It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

Soriano did say best time to have a reset a transition is after winning major trophies! This feels like a proper transition just because we losing established top quality first team players!

Left>
Gundo

Likely to leave >

Silva
Mahres
Walker
Laporte
Cancelo

All those players have contributed some a lot some not so but majority of them been important to our trophy haul since Pep been here!

Disagree with most of that, he had a hit and miss first season, as Did Rodri (and most other Pep signings) but came into his own when from them on and was regarded as one of the most creative players in the league - it certainly wasn’t a 3 month spell.

I agree he was suspect defensively which Pep alluded to when discussing his preference for CBs in the full back positions.

On the left of a front three (with someone like Ake/Gvardiol behind him) I think he’d excel as he’s a very creative player and incredibly talented. It’s all pretty mute though as it’s never going to happen with all that’s gone on behind closed doors.
He is a liability and aadd ****, also defensively shite

basically his only.plus point is he can cross a val land and can only do tgat in space as he is as said a shothouse when one on one.

He wouldn't get in a palcing in a list of out historical top 50 best city full backs

I feel like if 5 players were to leave and be replaced you'd probably want to know about this at least a month in advance and prepare accordingly, so I am a little bit confused as to why we've just given them the go ahead to let us know where their future lies on July 18th, the date they are (supposed to?) return to training
Meh. Situation with Mahrez and Kyle was discussed a while back. Both cited playing time. Clear to me Pep was not about to give either of them assurances. Bernie's been discussed over several years. Laporte for two years, with a lot assuming it was over in the last month.

Gundo was the suprise for me. But he'd met Barca in January and his demands were well understood. 2 years. City said one with an option. That had been the case all year. It's kind of policy. The outcome rested on Ilkae.

But so much of this stuff is easier to read. Almost predetermined by the demands and Pep/City's pre-existing position. When you are dealing with contract negotiations for individuals, you know the demands, the scenarios, and you know your chances.

Mahrez, thought we'd keep, or more accurately, he would stay, but he was always a prime target for Saudi once they became involved. That started several weeks ago. Walker, who knows. Maybe it is a suprise Bayern showed a concrete interest. But that's been known for a month. Nothing last minute about it at all.

City would have had to had their head right up their arse for all this to be a big suprise. Very much doubt it. As to what we do for replacements - that's where the real unknowns are. Txiki and co could be sitting pretty. Or be over estimating their hand, destined to end up with very little, in all likelyhood.

No one here has a clue, that much I am sure of.
