It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

Grealish is the almost perfect control player in the City system. With Foden et al in the middle, much of our ball retention, tempo control and game management is done by Grealish and Silva on the wings. Eze is your typical English wideman/playmaker who dives towards the goal or an attacking movement at almost every opportunity. He's essentially Foden 3-4 years ago or Doku now which is fine unless you're 26 and coming off the best season in your career.

There's a reason Doku doesn't generally start games when Grealish is in form and comes off the bench, and it's the same reason why Eze wouldn't get a look in either. In bigger games we can't use him, and in smaller games we don't need him. He doesn't have the brain and we already have two young lads with similar skillsets that we're trying to improve that aspect of in the same position. Any more would feel like a job lot.
Totally agree but the masses won’t like it all because he’s a bargain £60mill hahaha

£68 million. Some keep on saying 60, but it's misleading, because there are realistic add-ons in there, especially for us. Fully agree with @Damocles, though. It's the English bias on this forum. A lot of English players with some technical ability or speed are way overrated. Especially if they looked half-decent for a mid-table team. Crystal Palace fans don't think he delivers against the bigger teams.

Anyway, people don't notice he is 26, at Crystal Palace, and with 4 England caps. If he was 19, I would consider him, but as it stands, he is another Nunes in the making, so a typical squad player for £68. Madness.

I disagree with pretty much all of that.

That being said, I don't think we'll sign him because we don't need another left winger but he is a very, very good player.

Luiz ahead of Neves or Guimaraes...I hope not. He is a good player, but would not be a starter for us. If we don't lose any senior players, that would be alright, but otherwise, underwhelming. He won't be an upgrade on anything we have.
He can score direct from corners though.

(And take a pen)

Grealish is about 600 times the player of Eze and the most comparable player in the squad is Doku who is already younger and better than him.
Don't even need to comment on silly this is. Next seasons title isn't decided on a players form from over a year ago and moving forward, Eze is a superior profile to Grealish. And I'm a massive Grealish fan and have backed him since day 1. Brilliant player. But you're underestimating Eze's ability massively.

You're not taking team context into your evaluations at all. Wow, breaking news, a Crystal Palace player that happens to be one of the best ball carriers in the Premier League attacks towards the goal at almost every opportunity in a team that plays counter attacking football. Does that remind you of anybody? Sort of like that Jack Grealish lad from Aston Villa maybe???

Eze's ball retention is brilliant, quite similar to Grealish. You probably fail to see that because he plays for Palace. Watch him more.

And Doku generally doesn't start games when Grealish is in form? I'm not disagreeing with this, but how would we know? It's literally never happened and it's Doku's first season in the squad? You're making that up. The lad was 21 years old during the season. Of course Jack should have the edge.

The rush to become average is unbelievable
