It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

You can add Gundo and Akanji to that link. Dortmund has been really good to us, they have gave us class players on a cheap. We have spent £87M on transfer fees for the trio. That's money well spent ;)
Exactly mate

i know what you're saying - Dortmund are one of the easier clubs to deal with but, they didn't give us anyone.

Gundy was a crock who wanted to come to us. Manu wasn't a regular and if I remember correctly, was seen as not fitting in socially / difficult and Erl had a release clause similar to what he had earlier and probably has with us now. But I agree, we have done excellent business with them and long may it continue.

(they also stung the rags for @£78m)

Oooh they did. Usually clubs do not give away what they deem as good at such prices. The fact that we bought them at such prices and Dortmund could not see their values, hence agreeing to deal with us, that is Dortmund giving away their class players without being aware of their potential! Nonetheless, I too am glad of our business with them. May it long continue!

Apologies - I see your take on it now.

I do wonder what they do with all their transfer funds (Bellingham etc) when they are supposed to be a self sustaining model German, fan owned club.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say most Dortmund fans had nothing positive to say about Akanji and was often the one to blame. Just shows you however that certain players fit certain styles of football.

Dortmund are list on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. They are publicly traded. So they have to operate on a positive PnL, sustain growth and give back to their share holders!
In the past 5years, it has not been looking good for their share price. Perhaps it is due to the 2019 pandemic, the stock has took a dip!
