It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

It may well be at least 4 in the summer.

KDB, Walker, Gundogan and Carson are all pretty likely to depart.

Then there’s a few like Bernardo, Stones, Ederson, Grealish etc who could all be moved on too.
Agreed, sadly I think Ederson will be off, Grealish and Stones could well go if we could find someone to take on their contracts.

Our buying for the last 3 years has been poor, i do not know why we have chosen this way, but then no one else does. it is a numbers game, we have 3 goal keepers, 4 youth players, so should have 18 out field players covering 10 positions, but not keeping the balances of height, pace, potential, strength, or determination, has seen us go full circle to where Pep walked through the door, where he was greeted by an aging slow small failing squad. While some signings have failed, this is more down to not buying enough potential to challenge the experience, and Pep deserves some of the blame, but the job of keeping the balances and thus the value of the squad, is the director of football`s January is not too far off, so hopefully we can keep ourselves in the CL places. Then hopefully Bobb will be fit, Echeverri will arrive to boost the attack, and hopefully McFarlane to boost the defense. That leaves the midfield, where we can not make any more mistakes, so it must be a player preferably 2 who know the PL. The first being Zacharia Rodri`s back up, but Kovacic`s partner for the rest of the season, the second could be Douglas Luis on loan, Juve always cut costs in January, and may well want to put him back in the shop window . But i would go for Rodri`s replacement and Kovacic`s back up Archie Grey, he is a long way down the pecking order even at Tottenham, who are looking at putting a £40 million player out on loan, not good business, so a sleight increase could get us a player that will be better than Wharton or Rice. That should be us in January, with all those could be superstars coming in the summer.

I started a thread about this lad last night. Alan Nixon is the source. @tolmie's hairdoo obviously knows Alan very well. I also have an historic link to Alan and can happily state that if he is saying it then there is definitely something in it. This one has legs.
It's certainly bang on.

His wages are absolutely ridiculous, but if he would be willing to take a massive paycut I believe we should be all over this.
Zubimendi, Frenkie and Baena (DM,CM,AM) for around 120m combined? Quite young trio as well at 25, 27 and 23. Much smarter than spending 100m on Bruno G or 60-70m on Wharton

I’d be all over it. Offer the wankers €19m and tell him to reduce his wages and rejuvenate his career here.

De Jong is a player on the slide, with huge wages.

Would think we’ve got enough of them already.

Barca made several attempts to sell FDJ, but he has no intention of leaving.
He will remain there until June 2026, when his contract expires.

Could see all of Gundo, Bernardo and KDB gone within the end of next summer. No idea on Kova. If 3 leaves, we’ll need to sign another 3. Squad is thin enough as it is. We’ll need a RB (or even two) plus a CF in addition to the midfielders, so it’s gonna be a very costly transfer window. Frenkie for around €20m or Kimmich on a free could provide very good value

Ideally it's a gradual transition but based on what we're seeing at the moment it looks like we've missed the boat on doing it that way. Gundo, KDB and Walker should all be let go, unless KDB finds fitness and proves otherwise. Bernardo and Kovacic are 30 and it would be good to keep both through any transition.

The window is likely to cost a lot of money, but we've won a couple of net spend trophies so it's time to go the other way again. Like you say, there are deals out there and we can balance one or two significant investments with finding some better value. Kimmich with what he's won and the level he's played at for so long would be a great acquisition to the squad. He knows Pep, knows the style and if we do lose other senior pro's he's one hell of a player to bring in and drive the ambition of the squad. His versatility makes him a very sensible acquisition if we can make it happen.
