I don't think Ederson is worth paying over the odds for. He looks good in Atalanta's set up but it is a different proposition in Pep's demanding system. The RC Lens kid would be good. No immediate expectations but can cover and is still at the right age to further develop.

It’s obviously not a confirmation that either will sign, but the interest is more or less 100% genuine. There was a club briefing last week that Bruno G and Zubimendi were off the table for January, but for Marmoush and Ederson it’s a bit of the opposite. It’s an indication that the club thinks there’s a possibility for January, unlike with Bruno/Zubimendi. Deals in January are generally harder and both Frankfurt and Atalanta are doing very well in their respective domestic leagues, and would consequently ask for premiums, which makes negotiations harder. He is 21 years old and he will provide cover for a position that does need attention with the injuries and isn't expected to be thrown in the deep end. Ederson is a different proposition altogether.Surely that Lens kid looks good in their system but it's a different proposition in Pep"s demanding system?

Ederson is exactly what we need. An aggressive ball winner. Hes good enough to recycle. Has the legs to run up and down the pitch.
Atalanta seem to have Scalvini as the solution for him not playing as one of the DMs (played there today vs Inter), so if they let Ederson leave they’ll likely get a DM/CB from the league and go as is.
Just a simple case of money.

Marmoush makes me think how valuable Pep thought Alvarez was. He’s trying to fill that void. I’d say they’re quite similar in some ways, but Marmoush is way quicker. Alvarez a better shooter because he was comfortable on his left too, but he wasn’t rapid, this guy, rapid but not great on his weaker foot, almost all his goal attempts for Frankfurt have been right footed.
