It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

It was good hearing Pep’s comments tonight give us a bit of insight into what’s happening with certain players. For me Pep’s best quality as a manger is his desire to win. He has that ability to forget his successes of the past - they are no longer important that is in the past but we are in a present moment and have to go again and try to win again. That unwavering desire to win is pushed upon to the players. His desire to win is greater than the other coaches and that is why he is the best manager in the world. For all his incredible and innovative tactics , I think his pure man-management goes under-rated. He knows who is part of his vision and can take the club forward and is aware of those who no longer have the mentality, technicality or physicality to help the club proceed onwards. This is why I can foresee some of this cycle of players come to an end. Some are down to physical limitations (KDB , Gundogan) whereas others struggle to have motivation and drive to push for trophies again. A slight complacency- mentality issues. While Pep hasn’t openly said it I feel like this applies to players like Ederson , Grealish , Walker perhaps. They have to have the right frame of mind and be in the right mentality off the pitch to be their best on the pitch. This has been proven with Savinho looks like something has clicked with him and he has that confidence back.

Mine too but he should apply the same to himself (which to be fair I think he does). He needs to step up and stop using tactics that worked in the past but are no longer effective. He needs to beat this challenge by implementing something new.
I agree. I'm very disapointed that he haven't tested out the youth more than he has this year.

But with comments like these you almost get the impression that he is a bit like "you are either still as good as you think you are, or the whole world will see that you are not".

I don't agree but that's just my opinion.

I think Pep's unique ability that led to his success was that he could instill a belief within a squad that if you made the team then he'd stick by you through thick or thin. That loyalty then lead to a team ethic and faith that no other team could match.

Add to that his innovative football coaching ability, his world changing tactics and everyone everywhere singing his praises as the best manager today and possibly ever.

But for whatever reason that faith has backfired last year (despite us still winning) and into this year. Keeping Walker, bringing back Gundogan, failing to figure out the Grealish dilemma, etc. All things that prove imo that he is not godlike. Maybe he is simply jaded. Or maybe his methods have a life expectancy for any one squad.

I just hope he can make us click like we did when we had prime KDB, Aguero, DSilva, Yaya, BSilva, Fernandinho, Kompany, Stones, Rodri, Sterling, Sané, Haaland etc....when he had players at their prime, playing football in style like no other, scoring amazing goals, defending like giants, basically being the history makers of football.

It's a lot to ask given where we are so I don't expect it but if he has us perfectly in tune by the end of this season then he will do even more to earn his amazing reputation.

(Just my opinion..in no way would i disrespect or not be utterly thankful for Pep's accomplishments and amazing efforts at City)

We can argue about who's fault it is, but if you can come up with some tactics that will work with midfielders and forwards who won't run back towards their own goal I'm all ears.

Let's be honest, our current midfielders and forwards work rate off the ball is piss poor.

Our press is shit, our getting the ball back quickly after losing it is shit, and they don't run back to help the defence.
