It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

Not that it makes any difference but i don't rate rice at all and don't see what all the hype is about. Run of the mill average dm
I agree.

Another lad with Engerland kid syndrome who's believes he's better than his abilities suggest.

Let him sign for someone on a large contract and he'll go full Sancho.

If we are going to stick with this:

Rice would be perfect. Stones is made of glass and Phillips isn’t good enough. Would be the perfect role actually for Rice.
But, if we go back to 4-5-1 with normal full backs like the Walker and Cancelo days then we wouldn’t really need Rice.
Exactly, and Johnny Stones is good enough to either be in the 3 or the 2, so he’s perfect.

Phillips had 50 Premier League games under his belt compared to 200plus from Declan Rice. Was not convinced by Phillips at Leeds or for England and was bought as cover. Rice looks a few levels above and would challenge for a regular slot I believe. Yes he would have to improve but at 24 think his positioning and game awareness would be raised a few levels under Pep.
Phillips will be a good player for another club ,where he can use his physical side & be a water carrier for the team.
I don't think he has a quick brain ,pass & movement for city like his talented midfield teammates have ,no disrespect to the guy.
Rice under the wing of Pg will go up levels, just like rodri has.
No Brainer for me .

I'm not saying that people can't have an opinion about players I enjoy the transfer threads but I think a huge thing that is being missed when dismissing players out of hand as not good enough is the Pep factor and his plans. I mean no disrespect to Moyes and this season has been brilliant for him and i'm happy for West Ham fans but he isn't Pep and putting Declan Rice in Peps hands is a totally thing.
I enjoy the threads as I know very little about players in other leagues but I do think we need to take Peps ex factor in to account when judging players we are linked to.

Big Sam did a podcast with Natalie Pike last week, think Sherwood was the other guest.

Pike asks who will Declan Rice play for next season, Sherwood says Arsenal, Big Sam then out of nowhere says Man City. He always has his ear on the ground for these things. Has lots of contacts in the game.

Could be something in this…
Think he also said that another player would move in the opposite direction, which added an extra layer of detail. He could just have been reading Bluemoon, of course, ...
