It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

The impact of 115 on our transfer activity must be related to the fact the case has gone into the decision processing phase. Our defence to the avalanche of shit has been we are highly profitable commercial entity that is self sustaining. This is the most delicate time of the whole process, no doubt the Panel are scrutinising us. The optics would be awful if we splurged eg £150m in the January window. It could sway a panel members mind, the wrong way. That's why we need to be creative with buy backs or loan recalls (NOT Phillips) or loan deals that could alleviate the slump. The priorities are ANY defensive position, DM and Haaland backup. For example, someone mentioned Americ Laporte on loan for 6 months, highly speculative but the type of short term solution that's needed to get us to May and, pls God, UCL qualification....
This just doesn't make sense though.

What we're being accused of is essentially fraud, during a clearly defined period of time. Ultimately, we either did it, or we didn't. Although I accept "balance of probability" and the burden of proof is different than it would be for a criminal trial.

Regardless, if we committed the fraud we're accused of and there's evidence of such, we're in trouble.

If we didn't do what we're accused of and have the irrefutable evidence to back this up as part of our defence, then we're in the clear.

What you're suggesting is that we could be in a position of innocence relating to the time period specified, however by purchasing some players in January 2025 this sways the accusations of fraud from a previous time period into the "guilty" column. As you say, we're a profitable and self-sustaining commercial entity. We have the money on hand to strengthen the squad if we so wish.

Optics are irrelevant, as is what we may or may not do in the transfer window of January 2025 in relation to what we are accused of doing in 2014.

I know the rumours of Reijnders and Ederson are rife, but that league is an awful standard (Inter are ok)
Valid concern but in Reijnders he is only 1.5 seasons removed from the Eredivisie which has been a happy hunting ground for the Prem over the last few years (Antony aside) with guys like Gravenberch (1 seasons removed), Kudus, Kehrez, Sangare, Lisandro Martinez, Edson Alvarez, Gakpo, Timber (when he plays you can see his class) etc.

Was in the TOTY in the Eredivisie for the 22/23 season I believe

Everyone knows we're desperate, unless they've got a release clause we're going to get fucking rinsed
alex baena release clause £54 million
manfred ugalde release clause £25 million. reijnders we'll just have to pay what it takes but offer enough and if the player wants to come italian teams will always sell .There's the 18 year old bah £12 million release clause and where linked with a l/b from the Belgium league that won't be too expensive. we have echeverri arriving in January and hopefully give callum doyle and perrone a chance to be part of the squad next season .I think we need to get as many in as we can in January don't give a shit how much we spend it ain't my money

Beg to differ, from all the analysis in the public domain we have under spent in the windows since 115 day in Feb 2023. Last summer eg we made a large net profit. I personally believe the reason why we accepted the £85m for Alvarez without any replacement was to create the best possible supporting narrative for the hearing, all driven by legal advice. If I'm wrong and we splurge £100m++ in January, I'd be absolutely delighted to apologise for being wrong, it won't be the first time....

115 in a nutshell is our enemies accusing us of buying success with substanial funding of a dubious nature. Our defence in a nutshell is we have used legitimate business investments to create a world class club/business capable of competing on all fronts. It's going to be swayed on interpretation of facts and sadly optics, narratives and opinions will also play a huge role. Our transfer business since 115 has not been conducted by Txikki per se, it's been on legal advice. Pep's knows this too and is probably why he's so frustrated....

Fair point, well made.

Nothing?

Alvarez came in and produced from the start, I think everyone was shocked at what he produced.
My mistake I had it in my head we signed him in the Jan (We did) and he trained for 6 months before playing the following year and making a great impact immediately. What we did was sign him in Jan and loan him back to River for 6 months. I got it mixed up.

No problem but I was utterly shocked at the immediate impact he had, probably shows why he is as good as he is and why we have missed him so much.

80m seemed a great deal but for me Atletico have got a bargain.

If Echeverri get even a game this season I would be amazed but let's see.
