It's Quiet 32 - enter at own risk

Pep doesn't prefer Bernardo out wide. That is a myth. Pep prefers Bernardo over Mahrez out wide.

Pep has preferred to use Bernardo out wide at the expense of Mahrez and Sané. He's started him out wide even when David Silva and KDB are out injured.

If he doesn't out and out prefer Bernardo out wide, he certainly prefers a lot of things to putting him inside. Which makes sense, because he was one of the best players on the planet when he was playing out wide last year, it gives him more space, more shooting opportunities around the box, and the ability to run at people 1v1 in the box which is possibly his most dangerous skill.

Bernardo was also ahead of Sane in the pecking order, pushing Sterling out to the left (where he isn't as good) in order to accommodate him.

He quite clearly was preferred on the wing, because Pep ran Silva into the ground when Bernardo could have easily played in midfield and one of Mahrez/Sane on the wing, but he didn't.

cancelo??

It's been widely reported that Cancelo is contingent on Danilo leaving, which is completely logical. The Italian press are just jumping the gun with this one.

Don't expect anything to happen with Cancelo until Danilo's exit is nearing. If he doesn't leave, we won't sign another RB.

Pep bought a player to do what Bernardo does out wide in Mahrez. Mahrez proved he couldn't do it. Nobody else in the squad has the ability to play that right wing the way Pep requires. Gund failed their famously the previous season. Mahrez was a disaster last season. The ONLY player with the trickery and ball retention ability to play in the entire squad is Bernardo (Sane is a direct player who never would be picked for that role). So yes, Pep will go to great lengths to play him there as it is an essential part of us breaking down defenses. If Mahrez was capable of doing what Pep bought him for, clearly Bernardo would have played where he would have had the most impact, in the center.

Gundogan failed famously at right wing ? Mahrez a disaster? Mahrez wasn't as good as we had hoped but he got some good numbers so it certainly wasn't a disaster, as for Gundo quote you've lost me there

Welcome to the forum, it’s always better when a player’s agent contributes.

Cheers for getting Bernie that contract extension!
