It's Quiet 32 - enter at own risk

This thread is as good as any to pose this question:

As it looks like our net spend will be relatively fuck all for the second summer in succession is there an element of building up a huge war chest for a mega signing at some point? Or have the club decided that the squad just needs a tweak or two each year?

We have brought a lot of younger players so as the oldies leave the replacements are already here, pep says the squad just needs tweaking

There is one glaring area where we don't have any top quality young players coming through....striker.

Hmmm...to the Mbappe thread.
We will have to replace sergio but he has 2 seasons left so plenty of time,we will still buy one or 2 each summer ban permitting or we might move away from a pure striker, who knows, depends how long pep is here for

Can’t think of a player in the world at min who could replace sergio? as an out & out goal getter, he will be seriously big boots to fill when that dreaded time comes

On a wider note about strikers coming through from the junior ranks....we have been shite at this for as long as I have been watching us (early 60s).

The best in all that time was Sturridge and all the rest have been ordinary to fucking useless.

Moulden...slow as treacle
The Beckfords...shite
And my all time favourite...

Barney Daniels. All Barney could do was strike a football incredibly hard. He had no other footballing skills so as soon as he got over the halfway line the crowd would be urging him to shoot. He was starring in the Salford Sunday League in his late 20s.

Loads more if anyone cares to list them.
