It's Quiet 32 - enter at own risk

I was just sitting and thinking and it might seem completely stupid but... what if we have signed one or more players. But the club won't say anything yet Because they are adamant that they want to show them off along with the new Puma kit and not with a Nike shirt whom the club can't wait to get rid off??
Who was the last player we signed announced with a new kit?, yes I can't remember either because it's very rarely happened.

This is an Internet forum favourite every year and I can’t name a single occasion when it’s actually been the case. First and foremost it would be a marketing no-no to condense two easy separate and minimal cost marketing opportunities into one for literally no reason, it limits the exposure which is the exact opposite of the marketing teams job. But even putting that aside for a second and allowing the possibility that for some reason a player had signed but city didn’t want to present a player in an old kit, they’d just have them in some other timeless bit of merchandise.

It’s one of those weird fan theories that might make sense to fans but makes no sense whatsoever to anybody at the club.

Nike released their first kit on 21st May 2013.

So no time to make a signing before that happened.

Ah cheers.

Tbh if I was in charge, I wouldn't announce any signings until close to when the kit came out, as it's a new supplier.

Even if the stories got leaked, I'd still say nothing until the time came.

Think we’ve slightly outgrown having to synchronize strip launches and new signings. More about maximizing prolonged exposure for the club now, with the whole day given over to the particular player.

Given the number of people involved I find it extremely unlikely a signing could be kept secret for any longer than a day or two.

A question I would have, is if anyone remembers what happened last time we changed kit suppliers ?

Did we parade any signings in the old kit ?
Remember Gündoğan being signed in June 2016 before the new badge and kit came out

same supplier though. Makes sense for Puma to want the launch advertising of any new signings, should the two be close to coinciding. We would probably announce signings beforehand if they are ready to be finalised but perhaps the unveiling and interviews would be done after July 1st so they are "new signings in the new gear", thus a better advertising campaign.

Sounding optimistic we could have at least one in next week.

I would expect it to be Rodri.

Don't count out de Ligt just yet. The player has asked again about Pep and City.

There are hurdles (some are more obvious than others)

He's feeling the pressure a little in terms of all the interest. Worryingly, Liverpool have also started some sort of charm offensive.

Maguire is considered at least £20m too expensive and doesn't represent the value we want from making City's next centre half the most expensive in the world.

Mino certainly has food for thought.

If Leroy goes, Felix comes. Zinchenko and Walker new deals to be announced when they return.

Muric wanted on loan by two Premier League clubs.

Don't think Otamendi is leaving as things stand, maybe Vinny going has changed that.

No real update on Leroy. Bravo staying for final year.

Cheers. But what about Cancelo, Saliba and Manolas? Heard anything about them? And could De Ligt be coming even if Ota stays?
