It's Quiet - a new dawn

I realised that night that I'd rather watch us play West Brom or Palace than that nonsense and apart from taking the kids to the Madrid semi-final, as it was possibly a once in a lifetime experience, I've not been back. Not on the CL cup scheme this time, either. Happy for my seat to go to some hipster in a half and half scarf.

you realize this is insane right? you are basically saying id rather watch teams park the bus against us then play against a team that will actually give us a wide open game, thats ludicrous. I understand alot of the hate towards the champions league but you will never be able to get the best players in the world if you dont compete in it. I would rather watch us against barca, real, bayern, athletico and so on then watch us play Southampton for instance.

Diaz needs a loan imo. He won't get the minutes this season and has already been playing in the U23s

Foden on the other hand can still benefit from playing now and then with the U23s as he is yet to make that step.

Sounds like Foden will be involved and Diaz possibly depends on whether we can bring in M'Bappé or Sanchez

There's plenty of bus parkers in the CL and a lot of group stage games in particular are rather cagey boring affairs.
Because I live quite a distance from Manchester the premier league will always be more important. I can see why the players and management want to win it and I am not averse to winning it myself.

Of course we give a fuck about winning the champions league, who comes up with ludicrous bullshit like this !

me.

yesterday I spoke to the lad I go with. we never miss (he says he wont do Turkey but that's bollocks) and was discussing the draw due on the 24th. I said if we draw a couple of the "established" teams I'd still go but wont go to the game. to me its all about the crac. the games are so irrelevant its not true. great away days mind :)

I am coming to one this season! You can stop me getting filled in by the lefties and those I may have upset on here.

I'm saying I'd rather watch a football match between two teams of blokes who are allowed to tackle each other than some weird, scripted dance, where European aristocrats are allowed to do whatever they want and act like children if you go near them. The CL is shite. It might appeal in Kuala Lumpur, but it has about as much to do with football as WWE has to do with Greco Roman wrestling.

I understand why the club is obsessed with it and the impact it could have on the top players, but I wouldn't care if English teams got banned from Europe again if it didn't mean that Silva etc wouldn't be with us.

Takes a bit of untangling, but I take it you would rather be out of Europe and not have players like Silva, Aguero, Jesus, DeBruyne, Sane and be a mid table Stoke , West Brom type team ?

A matter of opinion. Having been present at 3 title wins what matters to me is the CL. Once we win that I will have seen City reach the absolute pinnacle. To compete with the best teams in the world is what I have always dreamt about.

The way I see it Monaco took a punt on Mbappé & threw him into the first team.
That now has paid off big style.
It's obvious Diaz has bags of promise so give him a chance.

I seriously think a lot more if you will care about the CL once we've come near winning it :)

Why would a club spend multi-millions just to measure themselves against the like of Everton, Arsenal or Stoke? It's like pulling a supermodel, then telling her you disapprove of pre-marital sex.

Foden is too young to go out on loan. He's definitely going to be at the club this season. Diaz is now old enough for a loan. It makes sense to delay the decision on whether he goes out on loan until we've completed our transfer business.

I've only managed two title wins and I think I'm right in saying we've never retained a trophy, let alone the league. We've a long way to go to be able to compete with the best, either currently or historically.

Maybe after a long period of domestic dominance, I'd be more interested in beating Ajax or Juventus, but since both our recent title defences have been pretty poor (although not the worst we've achieved), give me some domestic honours

That's the exact opposite of what I said, or at least tried to say. If we could have the best players without needing to be in the nonsense that's the CL (or worse the Europa) I'd be more than happy. Appreciate that's not going to happen, but doesn't make the CL any more worthy as a competition and one I very much suspect we'll never be allowed to win.

Fair enough it was all them negatives , got me confused. As for me I'm sure we'll win it eventually, first step is regular semi finals / final though.

Not getting Sanchez or Mbappe would be a big blow but could also be a blessing.

You'd probably have Bernardo playing more on the wing which would result in more time for Foden and also Brahim which could really lead to something great.
