If we sign both Sanchez & Mbappe, it isn't just Aguero who has to accept a lesser role, it's all of them.
And seeing as Jesus & Sanchez play a lot of their football in positions other than striker, & we have also signed Bernardo Silva who can play a similar position, & Aguero has just scored 30 goals, the wide players should be equally peeved imo.
Can people seriously see Mbappe as a lone striker with his back to goal against Robert Huth & co with a parked bus & no protection from the ref in January ? It's not going to happen. He will keep losing the ball. You wnt him running ag people or behind, like Henry. You play Aguero central or Jesus there. Most likely Aguero.
About that in LA they all brief that City bid for Mbappe and in England City deny that ?
That makes the assumption that he's at his peak. I don't think he is. I think there are signs he is past his best already.
Of course they will all play less but I just can't see all of them staying if we'd get Sanchez and Mbappe. That's just too much and playing time would be reduced significantly for all of them. Aguero himself would hardly accept it, when he was benched for Jesus last year, his line was - I'll fight until the end of the season and then we'll see. He was not overhelmed with joy and that's of course normal for player of his quality.
Sane and Jesus are absolutely safe, it's Sterling who should be next most worrying but considering his age, I think he'd need to have a very bad season to be moved. We're building next generation team here and his age with his quality should be enough him for now. Dembele next year though :) and that would be serious problem for Raheem if he doesn't shine this year. And as much as Pep is talking positive about Kun publicly, I just don't see the passion in that talk like when he is talking about Sane, jesus and even Sterling. In case of overcrowding in attack, imo, he'd want Aguero out.
Saying all of this, I still can't see us getting both Mbappe and Sanchez though, don't think we can pull all that up so if only one or God forbid neither comes, than Aguero and everybody else stay.
Aguero actually said last season that he hoped he could stay, but he had to find out if City wanted him to.
If he sticks to his original plan, he will be leaving soon anyhow. In that group, he could leave with a Champions League medal.
Aguero is the only nailed on proven certainty of the whole forward line, in that you know what you will get. Sanchez would be the second most reliable.
The rest, including Mbappe, are kids, who we hope, live up to their talent. Not nailed on proven performers.
It would be a huge gamble, to release Aguero & rely on newly signed kids. Borderline madness imo.
