It's Quiet - a new dawn

One of my guys from Karlsruhe told me that in the German league he considered Gundogan to be a better player than KDB

De Bruyne is a better no 10 but if you compare a fully fit gundogan in the role de bruyne played on saturday to how de bruyne can play it then gundogan is miles ahead. He is without doubt the best central midfielder in the league in terms of all round passing and technique. Would run the game with ease.

When he is fit we need him alongside ferny and we then play either de bruyne or silva ahead of them with sane sanchez (if he signs) sterling bernardo filling the two other spots in a 4231 with aguero or jesus up top. Flexivbility to change that obviously but gundogan if fit starts.

It might be but that's the way it has to be,we can't replace everyone in one window,it's quite a rebuild we are doing here

Which just shows what a piss poor job at squad management we had before Pep arrived.

The squad should never have been allowed to deteriorate so much that we needed a huge rebuilding job.

True but it happens to all the big teams: Arsenal after the invincibles, Chelsea after their first couple of titles post-takeover, Liverpool... frankly a few times, and the scum much more recently. Hell its even been touch and go for Barca last couple of years, though the Dembele signing is a step in the right direction.

Its just so easy for clubs to get complacent and have a couple of average to poor windows and suddenly its a crisis. The FFP bollocks didn't help us and if we'd made a couple of the signings we backed off or simply missed out on (Hazard, Sanchez, Isco) we might not be in this position at all.

They are both great players technically, as are Silva and Silva. We have skill in abundance but I'm concerned that we lack the physicality required to win the Premier League. Teams have a blueprint how to contain us and we don't have a plan B from an attacking perspective. Furthermore our style also leaves us vulnerable to being hit on the break, with teams defending with 8 or 9 men on the edge of their penalty box and stifling our pace up front. Sanchez is a great player but we have plenty of small, skilful, fast strikers. I would prefer a player who also provides a threat in the air and thereby a whole new set of problems for the opposition when needed.

If Swansea want Bony then they can have him in exchange for Lorrente and let's have Sanchez on a free to replace Aguero next season.

Haven't seen enough of him to say he can play the Alonso, Busquets role.

Of course he can, Gundogan just oozes class. He'll obviously have to adapt his game a little but he's had 8 months while injured to learn exactly what Pep wants from a player in that role. There isn't a more intelligent midfield player in the country.

I cannot wait to see him back in the first team and I would be surprised if his role is not predominantly the deeper role that KDB was given later on against Bournemouth.

He is superb at receiving the ball under pressure on the half turn, spinning away and releasing it with great accuracy. He also can move with the ball very effectively which adds another dimension to that role
