It's Quiet - a new dawn

Ter Stegen has been exceptional for Barca, but has still conceded 81 goals in 85 matches, compared to only 44 goals in 75 for Bravo with the Blaugrana.

Obviously Ter Stegen played in the CL and cups, which Bravo never did, but narrow it to La Liga only and it's still 31 goals in 36 games for Ter Stegen (.861 goals per game) and 41 in 69 for Bravo (.584 goals per game). Bravo had a La Liga rate of 57% clean sheets, while Ter Stegen has only managed 42%.

Either which way, Bravo is an elite keeper, one of the best with his feet and a proven shot stopper. So what happened? He struggled to adapt IMO, his lack of English and a defence struggling for shape without Vinny put him in several bad situations. Then the loss of confidence.

If he really does want to stay and make it work, then fair play to him. He has the ability, if nothing else, to do it.

OK then genius.

Make a list of goals we conceded from set pieces or high crosses that were Bravo's fault.

Seeing as you've said it was exploited successfully in every single game we played, it should be a very long list and an easy one to remember. We'll all agree on the United goal so there's the first one for you.

Hey man, I'm not exactly in a place right now to go through the entire season to list you all the games but I'll try to pick a video later when I'm home. In the meantime, I'll ask you to do something more simple: Why don't you make a list of goals HE SAVED from anything in his short run as our first choice keeper until Pep benched him to make Willy Caballero his first choice keeper because Bravo was so good. It should come easier to you.

No, because I'm not arguing he's been a good goalkeeper, I'm arguing that you're full of shit for a) Saying he never saved anything at Barcelona, b) That he was a complete liability and cost us loads of goals from set pieces and c) Ederson is exactly like Bravo.

I'm perfectly happy to admit Bravo's been rubbish this year, but I'm not happy to see people try and act like he's always been shite, exaggerate how bad he's been, and then act like he couldn't improve just like Caballero did after an awful start here.

Top post. I hope he makes a lot of people eat some humble pie next season.

You are arguing. If you wanna see all the stupid goals he conceded this season, you can watch every game he played at http://www.fullmatchesandshows.com since he couldn't keep a clean sheet until he was benched.

I'm full of shit? Mate, here, fullmatchesandshows.com

Wanna talk stats?

Bravo conceded 26 goals in 22 league games and made 6 saves. His average goals conceded per league game is 1.18
Willy conceded 13 goals in 17 league games and made 7 saves. His average goals conceded per league game is 0.76

Ok?

And Bravo was supposed to be this super keeper, yet he got benched for the mighty Willy Caballero by no other than Pep Guardiola himself. And you call me "full of shit"?

(Bravo's CL stats are better by the way, and that's only because he didn't play against Monaco and against Barca in the second game)

Stop acting like 'Holier than Thou' when you can provide nothing but words, and personal attacks because you've got nothing better (And this isn't the first time you hear this from someone is it, neither here nor at reddit)

I'm making things up? Are you delusional? (I mean you are but) the guy can't catch the ball in the air. He can't hold it, he's always trying to punch and can't even do that right because he's got short reach. He concedes low shots, high shots, headers. And yet you're acting here like he's Neuer.

He became the laughing stock of every football fan who watched Manchester City games.

And you claim it was just one incident? Why the hell did Pep bench him for the rest of the season then?

You do realize that Bravo actually made Willy Caballero look so good that Pep made Willy his first choice keeper, right?

Last time he played he injured himself the first time he ever caught a ball (or was it second?). It's a joke.

And here you're trying to nitpick my quote about whoever might have quoted it when I'm voicing my concern about a terrible goalkeeper we have. What's wrong with you?

Bravo was dogshit for City last season, it is not possible to rationalise how bad he really was, there should be zero chance of him being number 1 next season

The important stat re Bravo is how dominant Barca generally are and many teams don't register a single shot on target against them. Even a Gary Bailey could have kept clean sheets in that side.

How many of those games did either keeper have the benefit of Vinny playing in front of them?

That's why I included Ter Stegens stats too, for comparison, in my post above. Bravo if course has also been prolific for Chile and was amazing with Real Sociedad before Barca too.

He's been shit for us, no doubt about it, but he's still a top goalkeeper as Pep routinely points out. Our defence was all out at sea early on, lacking shape and solidity without Vinny. Bravo's lack of English didn't help, but it ultimately ended up with him in many one on one situations and, as is typical with City, the media and fans got on his back and the head went down.
