Curious who this "world class" CB that we are supposedly close to (in the goal article) is? if it's not Martinez, Bonucci, Laporte or Van Dijk. It's not like world class CB's are growing on trees.

Paying more than 20 mil for Walker doesn't make financial sense.
Apart from the fact that it obviously does, he's the best RB in the league, English and 26. Having an HG player in the starting XI long term is worth £40m.

No it absolutely doesn't. It just suits us in order to bolster the squad. No fullback is really worth that.
If we decide to keep Otta this season & sell him next or the one after, it will be exactly the same thing; using money to strengthen the squad and losing value each season. Walker's value will drop hugely each year, just the same.

What's the point of playing the "no fullback is worth that" route?
Stop pretending prices are fixed at 2008 prices. When everyone goes for 30/40/50m then that's what they're worth. You can't just claim they should be worth half the price because you don't like the inflation of the market.

I was only using the fee in context of a discussion re Otamendi but City will have a ceiling on it.

If Goalkeepers cost 35M's these days. 40M for Fullback that to the best RB in the league makes PERFECT sense.

Why is it ridiculous money? What about the fullback position makes it less expensive than any other position on the pitch? Players cost what they buyer pays for them. It really is that simple.

Sanchez is older but neither of them are world class yet.
Both will be world class though.
