Not really. Fabinho is much better defensively than Toure and we won lots of matches with Toure, KDB, Silva midfield.

Fabinho would improve our midfield defensively, no question for me, as would new fullbacks. I don't see why. Fabinho, Silva and KdB wouldn't be sufficient for 80% of games.

We weren't exactly winning any prizes for how solid we looked though, which is kind of the point. Any 3 man midfield with Kev and Dave in it is pretty lightweight, but hopefully Gundogan comes back and we play him instead of one of the creative two in the tougher games (preferably Kev as he got completely overwhelmed playing in the middle in some of those games)

We weren't solid because our FBs weren't good enough for Pep's system which forced our MF to do more than they needed to do.

I agree wouldnt swap Merlin for anyone, but B.Silva would be heir apparent with Diaz. B.Silva would allow us to rest Silva instead of burning him out over the season
