This mega Summer we're expecting, well, Carvalho and Barclay coming in wouldn't be very mega at all.
I suppose I'm still hopeful of quality full backs which will improve the team tenfold - the rest, I guess it's just a case of fingers crossed and hoping that the men who make the deals are working hard to make it so.
It'd be nice to see quality over quantity though.

Transfers can be arranged at any point in time, they can only go through during the window. Dahoud isn't moving to Dortmund now, but in the summer when the window opens.

In Germany it is not unusual for these announcements to be made.

doesn't this happen every summer though! lol at least this time I think we can be sure pep will be making the calls and not just txiki

Guardiola will be putting the work in behind the scenes to make sure we get players that suit him best. If he thought Gareth McAuley is the player to sort us, I'd be happier with McAuley than any other CB out there.

We have to trust the man's ability to identify the players he wants. If you want to support a group of expensively assembled underperfoming misfits with flashy names and haircuts, the rags are a few miles down the road!

Yeah I've been supporting City long enough thanks. I'm quite happy to continue doing so regardless of signings, trophies or nobheads posting on Bluemoon.
 
I really don't understand the issue with William Carvalho. He'd be a big improvement on Delph and Fernando in every way. On top of that I think Yaya's contribution has been decent since his return but drastically overrated and (even if he does get a one year renewal) he's not exactly going to improve next season is he?

Another who'd be underwhelming if he was our sole midfield signing but, if the €25m fee reported is accurate, we could do a hell of a lot worse. His passing and ball retention are real strong points.

I know it's the done thing to talk down potential signings, plenty thought Sane was average and wouldn't make an impact at City before he signed, but Carvalho is a solid upgrade on what we have and Sporting have said they'd let him go for £20million. That's a bargain in today's market.

Meanwhile, we will be in on likely 7 more players for the first team including a keeper (Moraes), minimum three defenders, a striker and more midfielders for squad depth. Not every one of those signings was going to be north of £40 million.

Anyone who watched Sané for Schalke would never have said he's average, I don't recall people saying that either. Most people said he is very raw and it would take a while for him to settle in. It's more like they based that on his early season performances for us.

Carvalho is an upgrade on what we have yes but not enough of an upgrade. We don't buy players because they're cheap we buy them because they're a perfect fit. He is great for squad depth but I think Carvalho himself has ambitions higher than sitting on the bench.

Not true at all, plenty of people lamented the "poor" signings last summer and ranked Sane as not good enough to start.

So he's a more technically gifted, younger Fernando off the bench or as squad cover for £20 million. What's the problem with this?

If Pep wants him, it's not because he feels he has no alternative, he just fits his strategy.
