It's Quiet - a new dawn

I'm expecting:

CB - Dijk
RB - Fabinho
LB - ?
Two CMs - ??

If Aguero stays, I don't believe we need to be in pursuit of another forward. I don't personally see the ginormous overhaul that others are predicting.

Given the forwards we have, that'd probably be enough, with Rose as the left back. We need a keeper too, of course. Ederson perhaps.

For the central midfield I'd like Dele Alli and Arturo Vidal, but I very much doubt that would happen at all.

Need to add at least a keeper to that list . Fabinho's been used as a CM mainly think that's where we would play him if we get him, he could cover right back, but id like to see Maffeo given a chance.

Disagree. If we buy Fabinho it is as a RB. Thats the beauty of him though when Pep wants an inverted Fullback he has one of the best in the world. If we wanted a midfielder there are better ones out there. If we want a RB that can be just as good at midfield, Fabinho is top of the list.

This. Completely agree.

Pep clearly wants fullbacks who can come into midfield and Fabinho looks absolutely perfect for that role.

I'm not convinced, he's a very smart CM, can go forward, assist and score, but often drops back to make a 3 at the back when both FB's are advanced, he's basically played this role for 2 seasons now[/QUOTE]

Fair enough. We are bying one maybe two midfielders this summer. Do you think he is the best option out there?

I personally think Isco is a much smarter buy and you can still buy Fabinho for RB wherein he will play a fair amount in the midfield.

I think that Gomez had already decided to leave and just waited Pep's first weeks. Gomez had already been no. 2 behind Mandzukic the season before, had the years with van Gaal who had similar playing ideas and just knew that he would not be Pep's first choice. Pep probably did not tell that he will not play when he stays - it is always good to have other forward options - but he for sure did not give him any hope - same with Gustavo who did not go with his midfield ideas.

The Brandner story - Gomez and Schweinsteiger have been big buddies until that 2012/13 season. Then there was a sudden finish to that that you even saw on the pitch - with rumours around. So there never was something written in newspapers - just "through" quiet channels..

I knew you'd be lurking somewhere so I was really hoping I hadn't got it wrong. Thanks for the info!

I'd be very happy with him, I certainly prefer him to Carvalho who we've been linked with. Isco wouod be more competition for Silva and De Bruyne really.

i wonder if the comments from the BMG Ceo regarding Aubamayang only considering Madrid or Barca are some sort of reaction to our interest in Sanchez..the jostling for position in the transfer market starting already with mind games.

We could have a Forward line of Jesus - Aguero - Sanchez next year.

Why isn't anybody talking about that?

That's exponentially better than Sane -Jesus -Sterling.

Because you can't leave players with their quality rotting on the bench.

why would you drop sterling or sane though. two of the best young players in europe right now. it would be stupid imo. pay 50 m for sterling/sane and then make the second choice

There will be no such thing as second choice in that group of players I think. They will rotate merrily. No player can play all games anyway these days.

so we are just going to rotate every game then ? it wouldn't make any sense, to have an unsettled team every game. our best players will play every game, just like every club in football pretty much. madrid - bale, ronaldo will always start. chelsea - hazard and costa will always start. sterling, sane, jesus, ageuro and say roberts are more the good enough
