It's Quiet - a new dawn

I want Laporte and I am a Yank. I don't think it is about where a fan is from. Its more about how you as a fan view athletes. OJ Simpson was one of the most charming most charismatic athletes of his generation. We don't know anything about athletes really. So, as far as I am concerned if he is still as good as he was last summer (he is) and if what happened last summer doesn't impact on his ability to perform for us (we don't know because we don't know why he didn't come) then sign him up.

It's about principal. He completely fucked us over this season. We thought he was coming for sure. We probably didn't look for other options outside of Bonucci because of this. In a vacuum sure...you just sign the best players. If you ignore what he did and sign him up the next season that sets a terrible precedent. Are there no punishments for deception? I understand this is European football and not american sports but in this instance I think the american POV is better. Don't reward players that pull this type of bullshit. The Deandre Jordan scenario I mentioned is referred to by some as the second biggest betrayal in NBA history. If @BillyShears is right and I think he is then Pep sees it my way.

I don't have an agenda against Laporte...it was his decision. Having said that, I don't want him at the club.

I guess I would say we don't really know what he did. And to the extent we do we don't know why. I expect Pep and Txiki do. If he is untrustworthy he is not the type of player we want in the squad. Thats a reason to not sign him. But we don't really know why he said no at the last minute. I know I am splitting hairs but its an important distinction. If he fucked us over for his own financial gain, then I agree...but again we don't really know the details.

Good discussion. I agree with what you're saying. Reasons like this is why I've stated that he if joins the club then I'll support him because we'll likely never know the full story. I'll go back to what I've said though in that I believe the info @BillyShears was given was correct and that Pep was furious.

Or we could do what every single other club in the world does and just play the kid without loaning them out for 5 years.

Re-signing Navas is curtailing Maffeo's development, I can't believe so many people are so wilfully blind to that.

I can see both sides on this one. The Highlighted part is important though and is where both sides are missing the point.

The pro loan Maffeo again crowd are missing the fact that we are extending Jesus Fucking Navas as a Fucking RB. As a backup RB Maffeo would get plenty of game time next season. Who would you really rather watch? I for one thing Maffeo is better right now.

The pro Maffeo is doomed crowd are missing the fact that this really is a one year thing (there is no fucking way we could possibly extend Navas again). They are also missing the fact that Girona this year and Girona next year are very different. If he is the starting RB for a year at Girona in La Liga that is not such a bad thing to be before joining our first team.

Personally I would go with Maffeo now. I think he would be our first choice RB in 2 years but I also think Walker is a **** and I can't believe we are actually thinking of signing him.

There is no chance we getting Neymar! He is the 3th best player in the world and barcelona will never sell him. Especially when Messi is not getting any younger.
If its not Mbappe I think this article is a lie

If Neymar somehow agrees to switch, Barcelona have no say over the transfer once his €200m buyout clause is met. The Sheikh now has the manager he's wanted for years, who says he won't pay it? If this club will challenge the #1 and #2 club in the world in football hierarchy, maybe taking the #3 player from them is a good place to start. But it's just a rumour, we'll see. Neymar is the most logical conclusion to draw from that article and he's a player Pep always wanted.

Question is if the rumours are true, then would Neymar agree? All we have is some vague speculation without naming a player by a Spanish journalist.

Jorginho had 206 touches and 182 passes last game, he looked like a pep type player who has avg 102 passes per game all season. He plays like a DM role, maybe he can be a player we can look at.

Stats don't work this way in footy, it's not baseball. Throw them out of the window, you should look into context - or better watch the games. Sarry plays perfect 'Dutch' football, so it's not a surprise that his DM has so many passes and good % of completion. So, the credit for these stats goes to the team as a whole. Jorginho is a slightly above average player who is not even seen as the best Napoli option for DM position - younger Diawara was clearly superior this season. Jorginho will be probably sold for a fee around 10m according to rumours.

Neymar would cost us £150m easily.

Where is all our money going to come from?

I think it's Neymar. If you go by the article, the article already says Mbappe is most likely going to Real Madrid. The only unnamed but very significant player that is more expensive than Dybala and that Pep would want is Neymar with his €200 million buyout clause.

Oh, and

Barcelona star Neymar involved in heated training ground bust-up

Neymar is striking me as a Ronaldinho type, immensely talented but likes that party life a little too much over being the best at his craft.

hope its not neymar to be honest (if there is actually anything big going to happen) because he would get zero protection in England and is a diving twat anyway?! the game at home against us this season he spent more time rolling around on the floor complaining to the ref and for over £100m I would prefer for us to go for bale or mbappe
