It's Quiet - a new dawn

I never take it in the literal sense mate....when I read the words "its done" I get the feeling the player might have told us he wants to come and we've come to some sort of an agreement on parameters of personal terms with that player but still need to agree fee with their club. If we went back to the Laporte thread, I'm sure we were told many times "its done" but we all know how that ended. Until its signed and officially confirmed by the club anything can happen. I agree its "likely" Walker signs with us but unless he's put pen to paper I not going to get a tattoo just yet!;)
hello, I take it as done when mcrjon says its done, spurs have most probably said hang fire with the announcements for whatever reason,i think mcrjon has something to do with the transfers, medicals(cant remember) but he is pretty much spot on 100%

walkers deal has been done.a well known poster(mcrjon) posted about a week or so ago and if he said its done, its done.

Yes mate. I know what MCRJON said.
He's very reliable. I'm 100% sure we shall be signing Walker now due to his information.

My interpretation of 'Walker done' as he so eloquently put it, means that the Walker side of things are sorted. Now just a matter of City and Spuds getting things agreed which won't be easy.
Spurs won't just except a bid and wave him off smiling. They have to appease their fans and make out they got the best deal.

Some of the clues with respect to transfers Pep's left us from his pressers/interviews:

  1. Not enough killer instinct in the team to convert the innumerable chances created. Missing Jesus, and Sterling/Silva/Kdb not scoring enough
  2. Strikers not being tall enough so as to allow another dimension to our attack through crossing/heading,
  3. Our fullbacks too old and can't be asked to run up and down all game. Praising Monaco's fullbacks for 'bombarding' and 'arriving' all at the right time in attack. Praising Walker/Rose as the best full-back pairing in PL,
  4. Not being able to control second balls,
  5. Not having too many players with personality, like Yaya, in the team,
  6. Missing Kompany a lot in the season.
Apart from point 5, which admittedly has no quick fix, which other ones do y'all think we've made a concerted effort (at least from media rumblings) to address and with which players (either purchased, or still linked)?

Also, am I missing anything that Pep has raised as a concern?

Absolute shitbag referees and their assistants.

Back up? I love Walker, and think he'd be an unbelievable addition to the squad. But if we sign Alves, Alves will end up playing as many games. He might be old but he's still absolutely world class!

Alves is still an unbelievable player when used sparingly. Love him, but no.

With the CL final tonight and winners being front page news tomorrow, I can't see us announcing any player until Monday. Hopefully next week we finally announce Mendy and Ederson.

Praying we can get Sanchez and Walker in soon after. Then VVD or another CB, saw some recent rumors saying we are still in for another fullback which would be great. Would love Fabinho here but not sure how likely it is.

Do Juve use him sparingly? I've genuinely got no idea how many games he's played for them this season.

EDIT:

Just checked. 32 in all comps. Not bad.
My general impression is that Serie A is not quite as physically taxing as the PL, Evra played plenty there when he looked a bit short of energy back here.

I think it means we have agreed with all parties and that it's registration only left to do.
If we had already brokered a deal with Spurs we'd know about it, because Levy wouldn't be able to contain himself, and would have gone to the media moaning about losing their key players but how they are intent on keeping their wage structure.

Most of the "done deals" info is leaked by agents, who will have spoken to the club, and agreed with them what the player wants (see the Sterling and KdB protracated negotiations), then you go talk to the clubs involved. Spurs in particular will be one of the most difficult to deal with because they are now direct competition for us, and won't want us to strengthen. I'll be surprised if we have Walker signed up before pre-season starts.

It's years since i watched anything of Serie A. Like you have the opinion, or on my part I should say prejudice, that Serie A is very weak. I noted that about Evra. Also noted that Dzeko is their league's top scorer, and that Salah who flopped at Chelsea has done really well at Roma

Yeah, very weak might be a bit of an exaggeration, Juve may well pick up the Champions League title, but compared with the premier league my impression is that it is a bit more tactical and not quite as fast. The Italian managers that have come over here have done well , though there haven't been too many top players that have come over and impressed in the premier league.
