I can see that happening and then we are not in bad shape at all. Sanchez can run on - we have more than enough until the end of August.

Who else is there other than midfielders (Dinho did a solid job when he played there last season, but we're not realistically going to win things with him playing there. Even as 2nd choice, it means we're one injury away from having him there for the bulk of the season) and youth players who aren't realistically going to get a chance?

Might seem an odd question, but what's the deal with visas for the States, how quickly can the club get them sorted if a player signs say on Sat or Sun?

Assume the club have booked any potential travellers on. I know that John Terry was booked on a flight with the rest of the squad when he was rumoured to be joining. But it wouldn't take long. It's an Esta you need and they last 2 years. So most would have one I guess otherwise takes 5 mins.

I've always thought that a deal for walker would be concluded in the states and I'd worry if we didn't come back with him!!! Hopefully Mendy will be done this week and will be on the plane with the rest.

Is it fair to say the bullishness at the start of the summer has ended for many?

Thinking about who we are linked with and which positions we are not, I still think we'll struggle in games next season without a new (and better) defensive midfielder.

Not arguing that point. Just this is football and not American HandEgg. We have a squad and some players are defenders.

We don't have defensive roster.

This may have been posted yesterday but if not an interesting read despite fact we know a lot of it. These really are complicated deals to get over the line. We were pissed with Alves but can you imagine how the people at the club who spent ages putting the deal together feel.

Whilst I can understand people's frustrations everyone still needs to remember the 2 excellent bits of business we've done already! This seems to have been forgotten.
We will sign full backs, there is no hiding place on this, we don't even have the old guard to fall back on now, and for that reason I'm relatively calm about the situation!

It's true, they'd want us to write off any compensation we'd be owed as part of the walker deal. It's in Sancho's hands anyway as he can leave whenever as he's not signed his contract yet. Hopefully it doesn't happen and he stays.

Takes 5 mins to get an Esta. They won't need a full, work permit for a short promotional trip because they will be being paid in the UK.
