It's Quiet the £250m return

Says who? The club have surely briefed Fabrizio Romano that we are on the lookout for a Right Back. If a deal is to be done, we are going to be there for a player in that position.

Heard that Viana is friends with Romano, so maybe the Livramento links are City putting out that story in an attempt to unsettle the player and force Newcastle's hand. Makes you wonder why we have gone for Cherki at 60-80 million less than what it costs to buy Wirtz/Gibbs White when we can spend 250-300 million this window without coming close to breaching PSR rules. There's still money to be spent on key positions. City aren't finished yet.
Hope so

I'll be amazed if City don't sign a right back. The club know it's the one position we're short, so they'll bring someone in. The window is open for ages yet. Anything else depends on outgoings. I'm expecting we'll see a fair bit of activity out now rather than too many ins as most of the squad is set.

Some entitled fans on here, let's buy a full back, let's buy a goalie. It's been a terrific window, now we have to bed them in, that's including the January buys. You can't start a season with a completely new team and expect them to be winning every week.

Correct, loads on here want to bin off all the experience Stones, Gundo, Kova, Bernardo, Akanji, Ake,etc now i'm sure a couple may go but you don't get rid of all that experience and know how in one go, blend of youth and experience is always the way to go

Its obvious we are going for a right back and im astounded that people on here cant see it/dont think we need one. Lewis can play right back and rotate with a new RB. Nunes isn't good enough, he's not a right back. I know he was getting better but come on. Pep evenly openly said he's not good enough to play his natural position for us.

Other signings I imagine are based on outgoings. We have a few to ship off and if we get rid of Bernie/Gundo/Kov thats when we will buy a midfielder, MGW obviously linked.

If Eddie goes Costa sounds lined up and same with Ortega we will get a replacement. Cant see any other signings after that unless someone we have no plans of selling leaves and we then react.

Other than Bernardo, who seems to rarely get injured, how useful is that experience sat on the sidelines, out injured ?

Its still useful. Day to day at a football club throughout the season during a close title run it makes a difference. We have players that know the club demand the very best and have won for so long its unacceptable not to. Young players need that push.

I remember reading that when Messi was towards the end of his career at Barca they had invested in plenty of new expensive younger players who when they rocked up thought they didnt have to train hard as it looked like Messi didnt. It all went horribly wrong. Remember Gundo when he was there was openly slagging off this mentality in a post match press conference.

We have such strong standards set throughout the squad, I dont think people realise how mentally strong our current group of players are when it comes to competing at the very highest level.

The problem is that we are over loaded on non hg players, so other than Livramento, the options are limited. As we look as though we've upgraded our weakest problem with legs in midfield, would this take the pressure off the defence.

If Livramento is unobtainable, do we need to spend 40m to 50m on a rightback who struggles defensively, but has less g/a than Nunes.

But you can also look at how PSG have gone from have superstars who weren't willing to work off the ball to a young relatively inexperienced midfield. You can say their league isn't as strong as the EPL but look at who they beat in the knockout stages of UCL.

It's not as though we are throwing several academy players who have very little 1st team experience.

Oh yeah I get that and its great to see.

The difference is we dont have players that have these ego problems and wont work for it. Our experienced guys were a different breed which is my point. We have a special culture at the club at the moment thats for sure.

Personally I think we try to sell Gundo, Bernie, Kovacic & Nunes helping with that issue. We will also try to move homegrown players like McAtee, Grealish & Stones.

In the Jan window and this CWC window we've done recruitment without selling first so we will see as many players leave as what came in basically.

Just feels it's a lot of wages being paid to sit on the sidelines & it's a major reason why Aguero & KDB were let go.
Pep has been so so successful here by being able to rotate players with no drop off in quality, unwilling to carry players he can't rely on. Last season showed how injures stopped Pep doing this

I'd be surprised if Kovacic & Nunes go, which I think if Gundo & Berny go that still leaves us with 17 non hg

True. I think this is one main reason Bernie will probably go.

He's still useful but had a rough season so we've bought in fresh faces and Bernie is a top earner on 300 a week.

I think its finding that balance and although players like Bernie, Gundo & Jack might be favourites to go for the wage reason keeping players like Akanji, Ake and Kovacic is keeping the experience we need.

kova braindead, you are talking shite, proper streetwise footballer, that has played at the very top level .
Our 2nd best player this season after Gvardiol, though.

All evidence to the contrary.

Instead of recency bias vs low level/ mid level just watch his performance vs Juve, PSG, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Liverpool on City+ with your own eyes.

He is so bad vs top teams.. I'm not alone in my assessment of him. Even 93:20 podcast are saying the same thing.

Funny that’s what your mum said

If all you've got is insults.. you've already lost the argument.

I am presenting facts and you're not.

Why should I waste my time with you when you're all freaked out, emotional, insecure and insulting?

Go relax and think up an actual factual argument if you want to counter my point!

Have a good weekend.

Oh well if a podcast on the internet says he’s shit then it must be true. I’ll use the evidence of my eyes, you use the feelings of some dick on the net for your “facts”, oh the fucking irony
