It's Quiet the £250m return

I think if we got forward quicker, to 'counter the counter' if you like, sides would likely be less willing to commit so many men on the counter, as you rightly describe.
We’re only going to see as the season unfolds. On the domestic front, some teams will continue to go man-to-man and give us open games, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see more teams, even better ones, deliberately drop off and look to pick us off. The Juventus game might give us an indication of how better teams will set up.

That’s possible, though it will depend on us being able to retain possession, suffocating teams, and not giving it away cheaply, especially in the middle on the edge of their box. Lose it there and it’s like the 100 yard sprint. Teams know that we’ve been vulnerable there, still are, so I’m looking forward to seeing how we counter the counter, so to speak.
This is why I'd like to see a Nico, Rodri and Reijnders midfield 3 with Cherki, Foden and Marmoush supporting Haaland in the big games.

Rodri sits, Nico wins the 2nd balls and keeps the ball ticking over, Reijnders pushes on and drives into the spaces. Then you have Foden/Cherki and Marmoush interchanging. Ait Nouri and Nunes flying down both wings on the overlap.

That midfield 3 would certainly be solid, but that would come at the price of creativity and a three-man defence.

Ederson
Ait Nouri
Nunes
Gvardiol
Khusanov/Dias
Nico
Rodri
Reijnders
Cherki/Foden
Marmoush
Haaland
ah gotcha, way too many names in the first post made it sound like a 3331 with the fullbacks attacking making it a 1333 lol

Assume everyone on social media and the media in general are having a meltdown…

No, fans of other clubs are taking the piss out of them.

Coutinho money. Ian Rush money. Self-proclaimed net spend champions. Etc.

It's just good football banter.

How many players are you planning on putting in the pitch? That leaves 3 defenders

La Liga is one of the best leagues in the world. People forget that coming to England/English football is a culture shock. The league is completely different to La Liga where you have more time on the ball. You're having to adjust to the lifestyle, the pace of the league and adjust to Pep's system.

It takes time. I actually thought we saw glimpses of a top quality player at times last season. He's clearly a very talented player.

La liga is the best technical league in the world it’s why Sevilla and Madrid have dominated Europe and why la liga has won the most champions leagues.

Even some of the lower teams in that league would pass circles around teams outside of the top 4 in the prem. prem is more physical and that’s the culture shock you get away with fouls here that would be fouls in la liga.

Savinho needs time once he clicks he’s going to be one the best wingers in the world. People forget he was top 3 best young players in la liga with Nico Williams and Yamal. Barca , Madrid and Atletico all wanted on him.

And lost nearly £60mill in 2023/24.

One point being, Klopp and Slot said Liverpool can't compete with City financially.

At least tell the truth instead of constantly lying.
Its easy to tell porkies when you have a captive audience.
Always amazes me why some reporters never deal in facts, no matter how often they are proved wrong.

I don't know why I am banned from the Ilkay Gundogan thread in the transfer thread but I put it here. He should be kept for one more season. We don't want a repeat of last season where we had little depth. We were overly reliant on him last season but he does provide cover. It was telling where we triggered his renewal clause that he is still going to be still part of the set up.

Hold on, we already have two more midfielders than we had at the start of last season and we're oversubscribed on non-HG places.

At least two non-HG players need to go and Gundo should be one of them.
