It's Quiet the £250m return

Reis- the 19 year old CB who had 4 appearances for us across all comps.
Stones was a CB, so was Akanji, so was Gvardiol. Nunes was a midfielder. Pep can put him there and make him one of the leagues best RB's, I'm sure.

Even after loaning Reis, my vibe is we've got too many CB's. Makes sense to loan him because he needs games at his age. Hopefully one of Stones, Akanji, or Ake leave before the window closes too.
Issue we have is keeping Stones, Ake and Akanji fit. It's not a given.

Maybe we’re being held to ransom with someone and this is a public negotiating ploy

Viana seem to have a very different way of operating than Txiki did, and as a result, it seems it's much harder for the media to get a handle on who we're genuinely in for. Ait Nour and Cherki came out of nowhere. MGW was apparently done. Trafford wasn't a name on anyone's list at the end of last season. I wouldn't bet on anything until the window is closed! :)

Akanji's injury record is fine. Stones and Ake not so much! Honestly, I'd expect that either Stones starts the season playing games or he leaves before the window closes. He will not want to risk not playing in a tournament year. Think it was telling he didn't get on the pitch in the CWC.

He`s technically good mate as i`m sure he was midfielder in the EDS but Pep saw him as his Kimmich project?
I agree he has all the passing ability and decent movement, but he can't tackle, has no pace and falls over everytime anyone comes near him, it's hard to see what pep is thinking if he intends to play him against the big guns, ok maybe he will have a couple of decent games against the shit teams but that's not enough for a place in a squad that sits at the top table

If we arent signing a RB we should keep Stones imo. 10-15 games inverting from RB to help when Rodri isnt playing would be invaluable.

No more transfers and are about to send some of our young talents out on loan. Don’t understand what logic is behind sending Reis away. We went from a rebuild to essentially patching holes in a team that has aged another year. I thought we would have learnt from not investing properly last summer and how our panic buys in January made no real impact.

If we aren’t signing a RB I’ll be disappointed but for the majority of games we will be fine with Nunes/Rico/Khusanov. Unfortunately a close title race or a late stage CL knock out game I could see us suffering.

If this is the case you have to play Bernie either RW/RCM as his partnership and ability to cover Nunes is very good. Argument having Khusanov next to him would be a bonus as well because if the pace and Dias has been off form (as most).

I’m still on the fence with this news, I think it’s all outgoing depending and/or a negotiation tactic. But surprised no new links have come out so could be true.

It will be a complete failure if Bernardo plays one second on the wing next season

Complete bollocks.
Some people want everything yesterday. I'd love us to get a quality Right Back but if the right player isn't available there's no point making a panic buy. I'd say that a front 6 of Rodri, Reijnders, Marmoush, Foden, Cherki and Haaland is as good as anything in World football.

Fine by me if we're done.

Ederson
Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, Ait-Nouri
Rodri
Foden, Reijnders
Cherki, Haaland, Marmoush

Trafford (Bettinelli)
Lewis, Stones, Khusanov, O'Reilly (Ake)
Kovacic
Bernardo, Nico G
Savinho, Bobb, Doku

Ortega, Akanji, Wilson-Esbrand, Gundogan, and McAtee all sold.
Grealish, Reis, Nypan, Phillips, Echeverri all loaned.

Time to get a wriggle on.
We don't win the league with that backline

We've invested in loads of players, about 6 of the regular team will be recent additions, now all of a sudden because we don't buy 1 player in 1 position we're patching holes and not investing. Complete lack of prespective and lack of awareness of what we've have done.

Time to crack out the 3 ATB with wingbacks formation

I mean, it's not out of the question. Certainly if you think about the treble winning season and how we ended up playing a 3241 formation. If anything with Ait Nouri and Nunes it makes sense that you use the full backs/wing backs for width. Doku has been deployed in narrower attacking positions already last season. With Foden, Cherki, Marmoush, and Reinjders in the squad makes sense to lean into that and dominate central areas and pack them with creativity and mobility.
