It's Quiet the £250m return

No one is picking on him christ. Do we just say he played well when he didn't? He is KDBs replacement, Saturday wasn't good enough but I am confident that he will have a top season. You don't see any raving of Dias from me, he has been next to useless for a while.

Fair enough for back tracking it’s a good trait in people

We were the best team from end of January in premier where Silva was playing midfield so that ain’t true..

I swear some fans only acknowledge negatives of players..
Arsenal knew they were second and focused on the CL. Liverpool had the league won and wrapped up well in advance. Yes we finished the season well but this moral victory of winning the Jan - May trophy is funny. Bernardo still has a role to play though I agree with that, being captain he needs to have a role otherwise that was a wasted appointment again

What I saw of Cherki I really liked...he has some passes in him that KDB used to play...Everyone remembers Haalands second goal vs the rags when KDB moving through midfield chipped one towards the back stick with a bit of curl on it and Haaland slid in....i think Cherki has that pass in him all the time....he was looking for it several times in that Spurs game
Not saying he is KDB..no one is....I dont think Cherki will be able to play that mad 30 yd whipped cross at pace from out wide while running at full speed - but then again I dont think anyone can except KDB

The team are not use to him and the runs they can make for him. He is not use to them either...I like the fact that he is willing to just put a cross in every now and again instead of just cutting back and playing backwards/sideways.

Work rate needs to improve...defensively - that is a must however

For me the main issue at the moment is defensively and CDM (but especially defensively) - Im not too concerned at all about us going forwards...its transitions and defensively overall where the concern is

Zero back tracking. I said he was crap Saturday He was crap, very crap in fact. Do I think he will be crap all season, no I think once settled he will be very good. Nothing I have said has backtracked the original point.

That's because Silva has been dreadful for a long time now. He's run his blood to water for us over the years, but he's nothing left to give and has too many miles on the clock. I'd been highly critical of Silva's performances last season but thought he might bring a bit of cohesion when came on on Saturday. I was clearly wrong. Things arguably got worse. It's sad to see such a decline.

Agree. He’s been a legend for us and instrumental in many of our trophies and great games over the last few years. But age waits for no man, and he’s done at this level.

In fact he’s symptomatic of all our on field issues; physically weak, slow, never scores, hardly creates. Should have moved him on last year.

And that's okay.
At the moment, we know, and he has said it, that he is trying to give everyone game time.
That sub at 2 down isn't to spread game time. It is taking your ineffective players off and trying to change the game. That didn't happen either but to suggest that sub was made for minutes is laughable.

I disagree again.
Cherki was one of our most effective players, certainly in the attacking sense.
He created clear chances that are evidenced in the video I pointed you too earlier.
Having your captain on the bench and not giving him game time is unusual.
My last post nails it for us all.

Manchester City finished 3rd last season yet you characterise us as physically weak, slow, and a side that struggles to score goals. That really is nonsense.

The more I read here, I realise that we have two things in common:
1. We see what we wish to see.
2. We want City to win.

That is really it, the rest is just fannying about.

Too many people can only express themselves in wild extremes. They think they’re making their point forcefully but it makes them sound desperate and not really that confident about what they’re saying. Nuance has been lost both in society and particularly online.

Mad how you underestimate a team coming back from that many defeats to get 3rd and then defending the other teams more than the team you support! Your a glass half empty person bought wrong with that the worlds made up of people with different character’s personalities..

No it isn’t, watch our games, we’re not as physical as some teams and it shows. I’m also comparing us to our previous trophy winning sides, with players like Fern, Vinny, Yaya, Kun, Walker - we haven’t replaced that. Too soft now.

No, that's bollocks, I'm happy to acknowledge the positives as well but I give it as I see it whether you like it or not.

I'm not sure that fans clinging to us having the best record since January is a solid argument for saying that Silva has individually been playing well for us. We stabilised after a very bad November and December, but the standard of performance was still some way off what it needed to be. Liverpool took their foot off the gas after clinching the league title and Arsenal put all their eggs in the CL basket. Both of these things played a part in us having the best record over that time period. We proved incapable of getting results in the biggest games - Real Madrid away, Liverpool at home, Arsenal away, Forest away, Palace at Wembley, etc. How much of this is attributable solely to Silva's performances is difficult to determine but it's largely irrelevant. My view is that he's a shadow of the player he once was and there was just as much a case for retaining KDB.

For what it's worth, I think Khusanov is a magnificent centre-half who had a big impact in helping us to stabilise before mysteriously losing his place in the side. Gvardiol moving to central defence and the emergence of O'Reilly also helped massively in propelling us towards CL football. So there goes your wanky argument about only seeing negatives in players.

The season is 38 games, we ended it well but you are also ignoring losing a cup final to a team in the lower half of the league in that second half of the season. We done well to get CL football considering the rut we was in, also have to factor in spending 150m or so in the January. Following that season we got dumped out the club world cup full strength to a saudi team and then got rolled over by Spurs. It isn't underestimating. It is being realistic. This started with people praising Cherkis performances which wasn't great. I think he will be great, I just won't say he had a good game when he didn't.
