It's Quiet the £250m return

Unfortunately and only my personal opinion but this squad is no where near the level it should be in certain postions....we seem to of taken our eye off the ball once the champions league goal was achieved and comes across at times as let's make do...it's absolutely criminal that the RB position ain't been addressed...a season of Rico and nunes in there is going to be a tough watch unless kush is given a bash

With all our new players we won’t find out till after 10+ games.

Presumably more about the outgoings now. Even though we won the League in 23-24, our form against the better sides was indicating a slide, which accelerated last season. Arresting that and turning it around was going to be a tall order in two windows, and while we’ve started the job we are far from the finished article. Now it’s all about rhythm. I reckon, roughly, that there are 7 games between the next two international breaks, so it might not be until after the second break that we start to see that rhythm. Suspect, however, the three international breaks and AFCON are going to punctuate the first half of the season and might disrupt that rhythm, so we’ll need to use the squad wisely.

Just a thought for Monday evening in the event we do not sign any more players.
A new thread titled “I told you so” with content to include:
* that is it, be lucky to get top four.
* and still no right back
* Viana’s been asleep at the wheel
* Club fucking about over £X million, should of (sic) just paid it.
* can’t believe Eddie,Akanji and Gundogan still here.

We can then move forward without having to scroll through hundreds of variations of the same theme.

Sadly it looks like we’re done as far as incoming transfers go.

In my honest opinion City don’t yet have the team or squad to mount a proper PL title and CL challenge this season. I think the best we can hope for is a 3rd or 4th finish in the PL, and either winning the Carabao Cup or FA Cup.

I don’t want pelters off anyone, but that’s my honest opinion. Hopefully I am wrong and City can beat Liverpool, Arsenal, and maybe even Chelsea to the PL title?

What did you think of my post above? ;-)

There shouldnt be a need for pelters off the usual suspects though for having a genuine opinion mate and saying it correctly. The attack dogs need to not be so defensive of an opinion as its a football forum but im sure some of them work for the club as they literally get so offended that we question anything? Khaldoon said in the summer that the club had basically been lazy last summer transfer window hence the major splurge in January? He also stated that they knew what had to be done to get the club back to the level they had been and it would be done, his words not mine ;-) As it stands though, we have addressed a LB, extra legs in midfield and in Cherki POSSIBLY a top class talent but thats yet to be seen to be honest. The non signing of a right back though is truly baffling from the board and will be an issue for the season going forward if we dont sort one. Our rivals are seriously invested and jumped forward where again last weekend, we looked the same as a lot of last season and were soundly beaten at home in the end.

No I would do one of 2 things
A: Pay the damn money for my first target even tho I will overpay. 80 mil over 10 years is fine with me. It’s not like we’ve spent a ton this summer
B: Let go of Akanji Gundo Kova etc and get a non HG option like
Dumfries
Kounde
Vanderson
Munoz

And if Newcastle didnt want to sell Livramento, much like Inter didn't want to sell Dumfries, Barca - Kounde, Monaco - Vanderson, Palace - Munoz?

That's how we're here isnt it.

Also Dumfries and Munoz are the wrong age profile for the squad and Vanderson while being the right age profile isn't much more tested at the top level than Lewis or Nunes. It's not impossible that Nunes's potential ceiling at RB is higher.

You can only say we've "missed out on" players that have actually moved imo, and the list is terrible.

Ironically waiting for Livramento, if that's what we're hearing is possible is probably the best policy.

It's just not baffling if no RB we considered a true upgrade was available all summer.

No RB has been transferred that we'd actually want.

We all have opinion but We don’t know yet how this new team will do! I’m giving it at least 10 games before judging

Tend to agree, but as I mentioned above, this first half of the season is punctuated with three international breaks and then AFCON, so it’s going to be tough getting a run of 10 games to judge properly. Lot will depend on how players return from international duty and whether they can maintain form across breaks. Given that and our lack of pre-season, we might be a bit staccato but then find our stride after the next window. All about staying in touch til then.
