It's Quiet the £250m return

I think the club want to do 3. An 8, a 10 and a full back. Including in the incomings will be 1 hg player. From reading reports and trying to make sense of them it appears the club have pivoted from mgw to cherki.

It also appears livramento is the full back target (and will be the hg choice)

For incomings I see
Rudolph
Cherki
Livramento
Potentially Costa obviously depends on ederson

And I think that will be it.

Outgoings I see are
Grealish (as part of the livramento deal maybe)
One of Gundo or Bernardo
mcatee
Walker
Phillips (loan)
And maybe nunes (which I hope doesn’t happen but we need one more space so some would have to leave)
Reis loan
Echerveri loan

As you point out we are right at the limit in terms of squad numbers. The talk of 5/6/7 players is fantasy imo. We just don’t have the space nor the players who will be moved on.

Pep also added the squad is already too big! So I really don’t see many more than 4 (if ederson was to leave)
I’d go along with most of that but I’m hopeful we’re in for a left back like Ait Nouri as well.

There are very few AT FB options - Livramento then who? We'll be stuck with Walker if we're not careful
No chance Walker is back. Something happened (which i suspect will come out eventually) and he left to Milan during a crisis.

I long thought the options where mgw and ait nouri or livramento and cherki

Both options probably cost roughly the same and include 1 hg option. I suspect city have had encouragement on livramento and believe it’s easier deal than mgw

I just don’t see us signing 2 full backs. The squad spaces just don’t allow it and pep doesn’t want a big squad.

Livramento is hg and can play both lb and rb very comfortably . If we got him we could probably make do with one full back.

Gundo is going nowhere.
Pep signed him with a ruptured ACL and all the uncertainty that brings.
He understands Pep’s philosophy probably better than any other player.
Pep clearly loves the guy and will not want to release him having resigned him last year.
He has another year on his contract after which I can see him joining the back room staff.
I can only see him going if it’s his own decision, not the club’s.

Ait Nouri seems to be a target so my guess is 4 at least one of which will need to be homegrown plus any keepers. I think Gundogan, Bernardo Kovacic, Mcatee, Walker ,Phillips go as well as Grealish.
Echeverri, Reis and Bah are interesting, think only 1 will go on loan, so would need one more out either Nunes or Akanji maybe.

He has always wanted to play in Turkey as he is half Turkish and to be honest, Viana is going full pelt ruthless and Gundo is on big wages and if he has been told he is free to go due to age and wages then it makes sense.

Don’t see it personally. We would be too light in cm if we lost all 3. I think 1 will go this summer and it appears to be Bernardo right now

Pep is changing, only need to see our targets for that and Pep Linders as assistant further evidence. We won’t go full gegenpress obviously but will want higher energy pressing. Gundogan and probably Bernardo won’t be part of that. Plus if they don’t go then who because we need a handful of players out to bring in anyone.

As mentioned in a previous post. I’m not sure ait nouri is a target right now. We checked in on deal conditions according to fab and that’s just us doing our due diligence imo.

I’d love to be wrong as I rate him highly but I just don’t see how the numbers work

Fact is Kyle and Calvin are now back on the premises and need to be in the squad or loaned/sold along with one or more of Jack/ Stones/Ake/Carson

I think the Livramento deal is pie in the sky tbh - no indication that it is happening post the barcodes CL qualification.

Emptying and then re-filling our 4 AT slots is a top priority. Wharton is one solution but we'll inevitably pay a high premium for him or any other decent AT player. The shortage of AT full backs is a big problem given our needs in other areas seem to be being addressed only with foreign acquisitions Something's gotta give.

All of this is true and I think the plan would be for Gundo to be subbed on when we need to keep control of possession in tight games & start games in lesser tournaments. I would be very happy with that plan. Question is would Gundo effectively be ok being a bonfide squad player? If we buy 2 quality midfielders as reported and have a fit Rodri with Nico also getting game time there is little chance Gundo plays a lot.

He may think I have 2 more years playing left and want to go to Turkey for one last hurrah before becoming an assistant - hopefully here, or he maybe happy with winding down from an automatic starter at a club he knows inside out.

Of course if Kovacic takes the Saudi £ and Bernie wants a move this will all change - then Gundo would be your super utility guy. One thing is certain his footballing IQ is possibly the best in the squad and despite losing a bit of pace he will still be fine to rely on.

Think the rumoured targets make it fairly obvious we need to make room in the main list ,not the homegrown list, priority will be that apart from Grealish. I’d guess we might let Grealish and Stones go, but wouldn’t be surprised if we only replaced one of them on the HG list and went with 3.

Unless they have a need to sell or they’re interested in Grealish, Nunes etc. I can’t see us paying anywhere near what Newcastle would want.

Well KDB out Rudolph in works but no indication of any other exchanges yet. Who leaves for Cherki? Somebody has to.

Worth pointing out that McAtee, Walker and Phillips leaving make no difference to our squad as it is, as we are at the limit without them included.

KDB leaving does’t leave space anyway need a couple more out for that, leaving for Cherki, take your pick from Gundogan, Kovacic, Bernardo, Nunes, probably at least 2 of them.

Don't disagree re whose decision it might end up being, but I can see him going this summer. Just my gut take.
