It's Quiet the £250m return

Our best ever seasons were with Sane and Sterling wide with Walker and Mendy pushing on? My concern is Pep is now concerned with transition that he overthinks it hence the keep ball sideways tactics?
Pep has always been concerned with transition ever since Barcelona, even when we had Sterling and Sane he was concerned with transitions. What he has always wanted is when a player loses the ball the team win it back pressing high, wasn’t his rule the 6 second rule.It was Sane’s main weakness.
This season we haven’t had the players to do that so not losing the ball became paramount.
All that’s happening now is we are rebuilding a team with players to return to that style.
Nothing is being forced on him.

Maybe their wife influenced their decision
Or their father
Or the shit UK weather
Or their international manager
Or their agent
Or maybe they wanted a release clause in their contract & it was refused
Or maybe they supported another team they joined as a child
Or maybe they believe they’ll get more trophies elsewhere
Or maybe they don’t believe the style of play suits them
Or maybe, just maybe, they prefer a ‘project’ of another club because they perceive it to be better than ours
Or any other number of reasons

Seriously mate, there could be any number of reasons for players joining other clubs
I’ve misunderstood your post in that case. I thought you were saying we’re not a top draw team anymore, so we keep missing the odd transfer target & this can be the only reason

My bad :)

You’re going off one game?

Have a look at the worlds softest Viking in finals if thats your metric
Not just that game.
Used it as an example.
His form dropped towards the end of the season at exactly the wrong time for Forrest and so did the team’s performance.
Wasn’t good enough to command a starting place at Wolves.
Not a consistent performer and definitely dodgy under pressure.

The advantage of MGW is that he would almost certainly improve City's midfield because he has the experience of playing in the Premier League which is far more intense than leagues like Serie A and La Liga. The one problem I have with signing players like Reijnders and Cherki is that they may look perfect on their stage but MGW has performed over 2 seasons in the PL.

Up until a fortnight ago, I didn't know who Reijnders and I don't know much about Cherki either but just look at the the quality of teams like Athletic Bilbao and Real Betis vs Man Utd and Chelsea. Apparently Antony is tearing it up in La Liga but he couldn't get a kick against Cucurella. Savinho scored goals for fun last season in La Liga. They gave him space.

There are top players in Europe but there is an advantage to buying players from your own league.
Don’t disagree with your last sentence but the sums talked about are ridiculous tbh

Problem we face is that we might need slightly different styles to be successful domestically and in Europe, especially consistently. In England, we have come to rely in greater physique and depend less on pace to succeed over the course of the season. As we’re seeing with sides such as Barcelona and PSG, however, they don’t require the same physique and can field younger, leaner players who have genuine pace. We had more of that style in seasons before, so it should be possible to build such a team again, but we currently need genuine pace through the middle and fullback positions. The lack of pace in central midfield will not be rectified by Reijnders alone.

More broadly, we also need to learn not to burn the team out chasing ‘smaller’ pots and have a rethink about fitness coaching.

It would really help us out if we got a homegrown back up GK. wouldn’t have to rely on Newcastle letting go their starting RB to a rival. Then we’d have no choice but to pay the big fee forest want.
This gets said every year. Agree as well. But it is not that easy. Rather the right goalkeeper, than the right category goalkeeper. It is an important position.

Don’t know what the great fuss about homegrown players is. We might only lose 2 Carson and Grealish , Grealish will probably be replaced with either MGW or maybe Livremento. Carson by somebody, who knows who. If Stones leaves we might replace him, or we might not.
Will Mubama not count too if he were to come up, which probably will happen?

To compete to be first choice as Allison’s contract doesn’t expire for another two years.
He’ll be going to Saudi.

Could see another loan for him I guess, they aren’t competing they’ve bought him to replace Allison at some point

When we had a talent at the level of doue and yamal we did (remember foden?). Bobb was poised to have a breakthrough year. If they are good enough they will get their chance
Remember all those that went on loan, came back and made it Err! there was Ermm!! let me think, yep I remember that Foden guy he was the one that won Player of the year last year.
