That’s the nub, he’s worth £50mil if he wasn’t on stupid wages. So we take the £50mil fee but effectively have to give him £20mil of it that equates to circa £80k a week subsidy on a 5 year deal he signs at a new club. He’s probably worth £50m in the current market - the cut price £30m a club saves on the transfer fee will cover the gap in his wages
One good game v Forest. He was terrible 7 days later v Juve away in the middle and even more abject v Villa away. 20 minutes as a sub at the end v Man U. Didn’t even make the squad at home v Everton or Leicester over Christmas. Was that injuries or drinking?Barely stays fit and yet, somehow, he missed ONE game injured and was in 32 match day squads.
I cannot believe we couldn’t have got more of a tune out of him in the middle of the pitch, as his performance at home to Forest seemed to suggest.
Still, Pep fell out with him and treated him like a bit of shit, for whatever reason and so, that is that.
I really hope he absolutely rips it up for whichever team he goes to next and he’ll get a big welcome back, from me at least.

Was there anyone who wasn't terrible in those games against Juve and Villa? We were shit front to back then. One good game v Forest. That’s very kind. I have the same hopes for McAtee. I really want him to do well elsewhere. Don’t have much sympathy for Grealish tho.Barely stays fit and yet, somehow, he missed ONE game injured and was in 32 match day squads.

I think that’s a fair point. I’ve heard a lot of references to the Forest game though in defence of Jack. Was there anyone who wasn't terrible in those games against Juve and Villa? We were shit front to back then.
For me, Grealish is not quick enough to play on the left but I thought he could play centrally. I have never understood why this hasn't happened. Was it because KDB was too big an influence who could not be dropped or was it because Pep thought Grealish was coasting? I don't know. I don't see how as a fan you can know the inside track on Grealish's demise at Manchester City. His technique is outstanding. The answer does not lie in the players technical skills. It's either a mentality problem or Pep's decision-making. Pep isn't infallible. He took too long this season to utilise O'Reilly and misused Gundogan at the height of our injury crisis, or at least I thought so. I believed at the time that O'Reilly should have played centrally.I think that’s a fair point. I’ve heard a lot of references to the Forest game though in defence of Jack.
I think Pep and the club made a lot of mistakes last season. Some players dug in and gave everything despite the shit show around them. Jack went MIA and haas really only produced for 6 months in 4 years.
He’s clearly a lovely lad but we need winners. I hope he hasn’t got alcohol problem and if he has he gets the support he needs. But City can’t keep on carrying him.
He has to take a pay cut if he wants to play in the next world cupWhich clubs will match his wages or are you assuming he is onboard with a pay cut?
Are we all done now with incomings? It's essentially a free transfer because we just want his wages off the books.
They want 80m for him. Chelsea apparently asked and were hoping they could get him at 60m.Is this where Branthwaite comes into the equation
Meh, spend it all if that's the core you want for the next 5-10. Front load in one window, adjust and compliment less per window going forward. instead of 4-5 per window, get 7,2,2,2, etcThey want 80m for him. Chelsea apparently asked and were hoping they could get him at 60m.
Thats too much in my opinion.

Probably a couple of years left before they get in the mix to clear space for any that progress in the U21s as they have the U18sA pathway needs to be created for the most talented youth players though. Mfuni, Mukasa, Reigan Heskey, McAidoo, etc.
