It's Quiet the £250m return

Nunes went from being roundly hated to having some really good performances at the tail end... the part of our season we actually got right. Not even the numbedt skulls here thought we had any shot in CL.

He played in a new position and now knows going into CWC and the off-season that this is where he will play. I think he makes good and alot here completely forget they slagged him off and claim they were fans all along.

Nunes got an absolute kicking off me until the final 5/6 games of the season when he suddenly kicked in and to his credit was very good.

I’d keep.

The fixture list comes out next Wednesday, so we’ll know how soon we will be facing the key contenders, which will be the acid test. If Nunes is to make that berth his own, he’s going to have to show continued development in the CWC and into the new season.

We know we will have an away game because we ask for it because of the stadium stand build.. rags will get hand picked teams for first few games!

Last year we had a fairly benign start up until mid-September, when we faced Internazionale, Arsenal, and Newcastle (3 draws). In terms of Nunes’ development, I want to see him excel against the pack but just look solid against the better teams. That’s why I’d like him to do well in the CWC and early season so as to build his confidence; strikes me as someone whose confidence can be easily knocked, and he knows there are reservations about whether he can play there. It will be frustrating if we go in with him as first-choice, don’t see that level of development, and are then scrambling around looking for other solutions.

Every player in every position will make mistakes.
And as they grow older and less mobile the mistakes occur more and more ie,Walker and De Bruyne.
Time waits for no man and that's where good management comes in.
These 2 players should be remembered for what they achieved with this club and not derided for their few lapses.

For arguments sake, let's presume City would have gone to £100m for Wirtz?

Factoring we paid then £112m for three players, two of which were definitely coming, anyway?

It's not beyond the realms, City has the best part of £140m still to play with, which would tally with the £250m kitty I had been told.
Old school, spelling City with a capital C as it should be

As it stands we need to lose two foreign players just to register the 3 new signings - and that's assuming Reis and Echeverri are loaned. If you go for a non-HG right back, you need to lose 3. And that's before we get into the goalkeeping situation.

At least two of the following will surely go: Akanji, Nunes, Kovacic, Gundogan, Bernardo.

Personally, I'd try and move on Gundogan, Kovacic and Nunes this summer, and then let Bernardo and Akanji go in 2026 - with ready made replacements in Echeverri and Reis.
Won't be able to shift Kovacic due to the injury. It's a bad one and 3 months will be the minimum.

Why would we look to “shift” one of our best players from last season? @respect
We will have to shift probably 2 maybe 3 of Gundogan, Bernardo, Kovacic,Akanji, Nunes. Not sure Kovacic is one in particular but will depend what offers come in and what the players want which ones leave.

The proper window opens on Monday and closes 1st September (2 weeks into the new season)

77 days of madness….maybe not so much for us in terms of incomings.
