It's Quiet the £250m return

I'm guessing it's a quality issue as well. Why pay 70m+ for a player who isn't likely to start in big games? We have plenty of players in midfield and attack.

Bernardo is captain. We ain't benching him or Cherki or Foden or Bobb etc. for MGW, doesn't make sense.
Gundog, McAtee, Grealish & Kovacic? There's space for MGW right there, plus he ticks the HG box. Sorted, tickety-boo...

Wouldn’t touch Morgan Rodger’s with a 10 foot barge pole! Why? Because he will come into an environment that he is used to and all that will come back to him which will make him be a rubbish for us! Our standards are totally different to Villa and it ok playing well there when there is no expectation by the manager?! Just read what he spoke about before last season, he said around 7th upwards would be a decent season! That’s a manager as well with low standards! Looks at there team last 6 games bottler jobs..

Gundo and Kova can play next to or instead of Rodri, I doubt MGW can. Not sure MGW is more talented than McAtee. We have big talents in the AM positions anyway.

MGW could make sense if he was available for 35m or so. At 70m you look for players who can become world class.

Our bosses are no mugs.

What type of rubbish are you talking about

Even with those gone, we still have Rodri, Gonzalez, Reijnders, Bernardo, Cherki, Foden possibly Echeverri,Lewis and O'Reilly all capable in that area.

Not convinced MGW is a priority.
Wouldn’t be surprised if we went back in for him next season, with us likely to lose Gundo, Bernardo, Kovacic and needing homegrown players

Our players haven't had a break since last summer, & won't get another until summer 2027/28. It's this gruelling schedule playing at the apex of world football for 9 months per year, 3 times per week that has rinsed our small squad to a crippling standstill last season. And this doesn't include internationals.

We've between 8-10 players to move on this summer, whether they want to leave or not which will open up space to acquire Livramento & MGW. Captain Bernardo also insisted the players are enjoying having a deeper squad, as they feel a lot fresher after being afforded regular rest in between so many punishing matches.

With this new found methodology, everyone will get adequate game time, with the elite playing in the highest profile games, with a top class supporting cast available on the bench.

My hope is that I never again see a visibly shattered Rodri playing until 80 minutes, whilst we're 4-0 up at home against a mid-table or relegation threatened team, as happened regularly in the past. With a deeper squad, there should be no need.

It's been said that Pep wasn't being challenged by his previous backroom team, & it's also reported that the squad were confused that last season's coaching staff said or did little to help them throughout our difficult periods.

Things have visibly changed at City & that change is continuing. My hope is that the new coaching team & Captain Bernardo will impress on our Baldy that we can't revert to rinsing a small elite squad to within an inch of total collapse as we've done previously.

If this tournament has highlighted one thing to me, it's that I like the look & sound of having two elite teams, littered with young, vibrant & exciting talent who're eager to impress & prove themselves.

We've had the era of guaranteed game time, so now I believe it's time for the era of competition for places within a much larger squad.

Are we not around net spend of £60-70m this window with academy sales and sell ons? Bit chunk of £250m left (if that is really the budget).
Net spend is higher, because Cherki, Ait-Nouri, Reijnders and Bettinelli count for 24/25 or am I wrong?

Gundog & Kova can see out their careers more comfortably elsewhere. We have Rudolph, Nico, Rico, Nico & Silva who can play alongside Rodders. Add MGW to the mix, & we can rest & rotate our squad without too much drop off in performance.

It's been repeated to death, but for you I'll say it again. If Livramento & MGW cost £70m each, then so be it. Both tick the HG box, & both would be long-term acquisitions, just like KDB, Walker & Stones were when we were widely derided for having wasted millions on average players.

£70m each for Livramento & Gibbs-White works out to how much per season over a 10 year career again? That where the focus should lie, that & them both ticking the crucial HG box.
