It's Quiet the £250m return

Our players haven't had a break since last summer, & won't get another until summer 2027/28. It's this gruelling schedule playing at the apex of world football for 9 months per year, 3 times per week that has rinsed our small squad to a crippling standstill last season. And this doesn't include internationals.

We've between 8-10 players to move on this summer, whether they want to leave or not which will open up space to acquire Livramento & MGW. Captain Bernardo also insisted the players are enjoying having a deeper squad, as they feel a lot fresher after being afforded regular rest in between so many punishing matches.

With this new found methodology, everyone will get adequate game time, with the elite playing in the highest profile games, with a top class supporting cast available on the bench.

My hope is that I never again see a visibly shattered Rodri playing until 80 minutes, whilst we're 4-0 up at home against a mid-table or relegation threatened team, as happened regularly in the past. With a deeper squad, there should be no need.

It's been said that Pep wasn't being challenged by his previous backroom team, & it's also reported that the squad were confused that last season's coaching staff said or did little to help them throughout our difficult periods.

Things have visibly changed at City & that change is continuing. My hope is that the new coaching team & Captain Bernardo will impress on our Baldy that we can't revert to rinsing a small elite squad to within an inch of total collapse as we've done previously.

If this tournament has highlighted one thing to me, it's that I like the look & sound of having two elite teams, littered with young, vibrant & exciting talent who're eager to impress & prove themselves.

We've had the era of guaranteed game time, so now I believe it's time for the era of competition for places within a much larger squad.
Small thing but we only ever play twice per week.

Net spend is higher, because Cherki, Ait-Nouri, Reijnders and Bettinelli count for 24/25 or am I wrong?
No idea what accounts mate, just pointing out spent £120m brought in £60m ish. Which would lead me to think we have a fair bit still to spend if club feel necessary.

The players I have listed allow between six and nine players to cover a maximum of three midfield spots that is more than adequate for rotation.
When we won the treble we essentially used Four players to cover those three spots.

If we need further cover it is at full back where cover is thin and physical demands high.
MGW looks unnecessary by any imagination

Just looked at Livramento and he has 2 goals and 3 assists total in his entire PL career.

Are we sure that's what we want to pay 80 mil for???

Especially with what Pep says about Nunes:

Current roster: 4 over on the foreign front:

Likely 4 that will be cut will be these:

But I know Pep will try to keep Gundo so I'm still not very sure on the 4th that leaves.. could be some surprises.
Aren’t 4 of the foreign players under 21 and age exempt for the upcoming season.. so we are really looking at 17 which is the limit? In which case we are ok but can’t sign more?

Apologies as I’m sure this question has been answered before and I’ve missed it.

Not exempt for CL which is the squad we'll try and comply with.So no some players will need to leave.

No I believe there's a hard limit of 17 on foreign players but there's no exemption on CL.

As such we've never actually tried to shoe horn foreign players in the under 21 squad unless they were already qualified for HG status (Bobb).

But with the rules changing every season for PSR/ FFP.. who the hell knows.

U21 are exempt for PL squad but not for CL squad unless they've been at the club for two (I think) years

Nobody ever said Matheus Nunes isn't good enough in possession to play right back. The issue with him is that he is prone to making brain-dead decisions on the defensive end.

we've done terrific business this summer and I don't necessarily think we should splurge on anyone for the sake of splurging. No glaring holes in the squad at the moment imo and in fact, it's a bit bloated and we need to ship some guys out.

Nice of you to admit it.. I remember your posts saying

The club is not serious.

Just sit back, relax.. we're not run by the clowns over at United.
