It's Quiet the £250m return

When you look at the best young players who qualify as Home Grown for the purpose of the Premier League and Champions League i would say the majority of them have passed through our own youth team.

Now i personally never wanted us to sell Palmer or Lavia (both of those sales still annoy me!! Letting Lavia go and signing Phillips i think is worse than Palmer!!). I obviously cannot claim to have thought the same about the likes of Bynoe-Gittens, Frimpong, etc but just think how set our squad would be if we just gave a chance to more of our youth products or at least properly use the buy back system in the same way Real Madrid and Barcelona seem to be able to.

When we were interested in January, they were briefing the press that it would take £100m for us to buy him.
Was it a stunt? When did this release clause kick in? Surely City would have known at the time if one existed or not? Given they were on a charge for a CL place I couldn't blame them for not selling one of their best players.

I think the club would not be very bothered about what Forest "brief the press" when the club would have been told by his agent that he had a release clause. I doubt Txiki and Viana are reading media headlines to find out what to bid.

Regardless, we should reciprocate and play hardball with them.

Kudas for £55millGibbs white for £60mill,I’m no conspiracy nut,but does anyone reckon if went sniffing at kudas we’d have been told £55mill I don’t think so,as for gibbs white wasn’t it again when we were sniffing it was rumours of £70-£80 mill, someone mentioned yesterday I think about the clubs adding on when we come calling or stalling to sell to us,not that we were actually in for those players but the fees are low especially kudas ..

1. MGW turns out had a release clause hence, unless it specifies teams out of top half of the table, he was always available for 60m this summer.

2. It is disingenuous to assume West Ham would’ve sold Kudus for a higher fee to us, when we all now they have good relations with City and considering Tottenham are a direct rival to them.

Minimum...

£250m minimum seems unlikely now i guess? I still cant help thinking back to the Khaldoon Q & A at the end of his interview with Chris Bailey and was asked who he was most looking forward to seeing next season and he said with a smirk wait and see? This was deemed to have been interviewed after the Wirtz news and although Reinders, Cherki and Ait Nouri and great signings, that comment would lead to believe that there would be a big transfer still to be done?

it's so quiet on outgoings...granted walker went pretty much overnight, but not every deal is as easy as that and there's practically no links for anyone to go out. Makes me think the plan is going to end up being loan the younger players.

teams are back for pre season, soon it will get uncomfortable for managers and agents around players that are not in the plans anymore. likes of McAtee, Grealish etc for us, but Chelsea, rags etc have quite some players in same category.

there is no way we hang onto Stones, Ake, Akanji and also keep Khusanov, Reis too. one or two of these need to leave imo. can see even one of the older ones sold & one of the younger ones loaned.

question marks on Gundo, Kovacic. they may stay, may be sold. I wouldnt keep both of them for sure.

Phillips, Grealish, McAtee, we need to do permanent transfer and as much fee s we can get. McAtee has interested parties after him, he needs to make a good career choice now, if I were him I would go to Bundesliga for 2 seasons, improve a lot there and then come back to PL.

not sure whats the status of likes of Kabore, Wilson Esbrand, Mbete, Callum Doyle, Simpson Pusey. some decisions to be made here. Doyle and Kaboure were on numerous loans already...

at least Perrone is almost done to Como, albeit only 10m fee in the end not 25m previously claimed.

We’ll probably send most of the January signings out on loan, sell a few youngsters Mcatee etc and hold on to the older and injury prone players..

Are our youth teams just there to make money from player sales?
Foden is the only real breakthrough from the youth team. Lewis is never going be a first choice, although with Peps erratic decisions of late who knows. Oscar Boob I thought would get a bit more playing time in CWC but Savinho stayed on for the whole match against Al Hilal. I know he’s coming back from injury but he could have gotten a few minutes.

I can’t see the point in signing Sangare, Nypen, Perrone, Echeverri and Heis. Pep just won’t play them.

O' Reilly plays, gain Peps trust and they'll play, if not they'll make money for us.
