It's Quiet the £250m return

MEN just after posting another article saying

“It does open up a window of opportunity for City to return to the table for the England international, although they are likely to need to offload at least one of Nico Gonzalez and Ilkay Gundogan to find space in their squad for Gibbs-White.”
Which is nonsense because players need to leave already as it stands.

If we keep Gundo over Nico questions need to be asked.
When pep said laporte was gone, he was gone, when pep said cancelo was gone he was gone. If pep says gundo stays, then he stays. Its obvious the club would rather sell him, but its also obvious that city don't really like to go against pep on the big calls. They wanted to rebuild last summer, he didn't, he got his way.

I think maybe the club thought Gundo might politely agree to leave, but he's not doing that so it is what it is.

Then Pep has to be told by someone in the club , that for the good of the team , Gundo has to go. Otherwise we’ve just wasted money on Nico. We can’t go into the new season with a midfield of Gundo and Bernardo.

Theres loyalty there but that combination hurts us. Them two in midfield in control fine but in transition they are passengers.

Keeping Gundo and letting Gonzalez go would be utterly bizarre.

Clearly it seems Pep doesn't fancy Gonzalez - no idea why as he's looked half decent every time he's been given an opportunity, but to jettison him 6 months after paying £60m for him calls into question the clubs own judgement and recruitment policies.

Love Gundo as a player but his legs have gone. Watching him ambling back for that first Al Hilal goal the other week graphically illustrated how his best days are in the rear view mirror.

What exactly happen with Nico - I am amazed to hear so many sound bites of him leaving just after 6 months.

I think that the fact that his name is getting mentioned in these news is a travesty and one should question who actually scouts these players and who approves these big money transfers.

Would love to be proven wrong, but i think the evidence and recent history suggests the club doesn't have the capacity to say no to pep, even when they know he's wrong. No rebuild last summer, is the perfect example.

Jolly nice of the club and Pep to take you into their thinking on this matter

To borrow a term from the 115 charges thread, the soft signals surrounding Gonzalez aren't good.
Its probably odds against that he's a success here now.

McAtee wants english move, which is good for us because the money will be better. Feel there's a lot of momentum towards forest from the reports.

So what youre saying is Pep calls the shots not the club

I don’t think Nico will leave and expect the article creates a lot of chatter. But let’s say he does leave then there’s a clear line in the sand drawn from pep. Don’t think the fan base recovers tbh

Nico is strange one at Barca he was supposed be the heir to Busquets but then Xavi said he was too attack minded. Then at Porto he was a 6/8 more of an 8 had his best season.

Then we sign him and all the briefs are as a Rodri back up. Or someone to give Rodri a rest so a 6 again. But his best season in his career was as an 8. We’ve seen in games he’s played for us he is attack minded makes runs in behind from midfield.

I think he’s just been shoved into the Rodri back up category when he’s more of an attacking player. Should be more the heir to Gundo/Bernardo.
