It's Quiet the £250m return

Cheers. That's what I was questioning myself over originally. So then he would go in as the 3rd club trained player with foden and Trafford, mcatee being the 4th in the unlikely event he remained here.
Correct. For the 2026-27 season, Lewis will move up to the club trained A list, O'Reilly will still qualify for the B list for 1 more season.

Football is still a game of running and as said many times on the forum we cannot have a midfield of 3 where none are at elite levels of physical performance and expect to compete 2 games a week. One older player yes we can certainly manage that and if it’s silva we know he’s got endurance just not got that burst of pace to manage transitions.

A very quick full back(s) or ch will certainly help as per walker in his pomp. Livramento is rapid and ait nouri is no slouch, he’s only been with us for 6 months so will get much better understanding our play.

I’d still like 2 more players: Livramento and Wharton to join and don’t really care who of nunes, gundo, kovacic, jack, McAtee goes. Hopefully all of them
Ait Nouri has been here only for 6 weeks not months ,but i get what you said :) Totally agree with the last part, could live with them all beeing sold.

Livramento is available, and he's the one we want. He plays for Newcastle, not Real Madrid. They're a selling club as they'll show with Isak.
Ye because those rich Saudis need the money lol Isak leaves if he continues to kick up a fuss, Livramento seems quiet if he doesn’t ask to leave he’ll be going nowhere.

Or as Abu Dhabi and Saudi get on, possible talks with the players knowledge are being had with respect and not in public?

And as I`ve suggested before its not just down to the defense but our midfielders, who have last season had no pace whatsoever in helping out on containing a quick break from the opposition.

I do think it's down to Walker not being there anymore as well. Which is now showing weakness on our right side. Its also exposing Dias a little with him not having the pace to get back fast enough in a high line. Walker would shut down wingers that would break on that right we are missing that.

Nunes is more attack minded which means he's leaving space behind which is exposing Dias lack of pace. Walker would attack but he'd easily get back to help defend with Dias. So wingers are just having a free run in behind Nunes.

Exactly! We had arguably the best RB in europe for years but apparently now its fine that a midfielder who Pep called out as being not intelligent enough to play in his own position is all of a sudden a top RB?! Insanity at this point to not just bang the £80m for Livramento and set ourselves for years to come in the full back areas.

Playing Khusanov at centre half would fix that, it would cause some issues playing out as he’s not shown himself to be great at that, however, we saw with Reinjders at the CWC that he can drop right into the centre of defence to collect the ball and progress it forward, and Rodri can do this too.

I think this is the way forward.

Khusanov and Gvardiol are a well paced pair of centre halves, especially Khusanov as he’s rapid. Reinjders and Rodri drop in to help guard counters and in possession to build from the back.

We saw this tactic a lot with Bernardo and Kovacic towards the end of the season too, and it worked well in possession, just not when being countered.

We went years with midfielders playing left back, now we have a left back if we have to adapt for a season then we will.We will probbably get a right back anyway, no panic.

That being said, Livaremento would add more balance to the side, we’d just lose some of what Nunes gives us going forward.

I'd be quite happy with Nunes and Livramento as our right backs.Though as much as I'd like Livramento ,I think we'll end up with somebody else.I'm sure once we know who's leaving we'll move for somebody.

We also had arguably the best spine seen in the premier league history to deal with that though? Ederson, Kompany, dinho, KDB, Merlin, Aguero with Sane and Sterling wide? We destroyed teams back in them days when there was space but now teams also sit back so we need to be defensively more stable than attacking and being transitioned on and counter attacked on which happened so many times last season as Walker declined and everyones head fell off in the squad? Left side now sorted but that was arguable stronger anyway as we had Gvardiol, Ake and the Nico who could play there?
