It's Quiet the £250m return

I am a little concerned that the latest brief is the young players being loaned out. Last season we suffered due to an ageing midfield and injury prone defence. Adding Reijnders helps the former and Ait Nouri helps the balance at the back.

Can’t read the mail article but I would far prefer to see Reis being kept and Akanji moved on. Looks as though the likes of Stones and Ake are a concern in terms of the ability to keep fit.

Yourself and BlueParrot aren't very good at backing up your opinions, Instead both like to use childish quotes being a pair of spanners.

At least your in the first stage of grieving, which is denial, next up is anger...I'll give that until November when we are 15 points off Arsenal.

Well that's me schooled .................

I promise to pay more attention to genuine prophets of doom from now on.

Ah great. So just move our left back problem to right back. All is good

Didnt think Hugo would let Pep go into the season with no proper full backs and after sorting the left, i`m pretty frustrated that the even weaker side is seemingly being left to a midfielder that Pep said isnt intelligent enough to play his natural position and made numnerous brain farts last season that led to goals, penalties etc? Not his fault as he should never be put there and those saying he improved towards the end of the season are right but it wasnt difficult to was it? A top RB and the squad would be extremely well set and exciting to watch

With what we've got - 3rd/4th place finish and last 16 or at a push QF of the CL is possible.

Winning one of the domestic cups always possible of course with the match winners we have, but that's the ceiling with no genuine right back of any quality at the club.

Rolling Nunes or Rico out there away at Anfield/Emirates/St James/Stamford Bridge et al won't end well I fear.

Josep knows best but let's see if this "no more additions" is true at the end of August once 7-8 players have been shipped out.
Maybe not, but think Khusonov could in those type of games.

Ah brilliant.

So we've the squad to battle for a 4th spot.

We've taken our foot off the gas as a club regarding transfers and staying as the top dog, the last few transfer windows have been terrible and this window is taking the piss.

The dippers and arsenal are building a bigger gap on us.

People can say all they like about this post, it's not me being spoiled after us winning four in a row, it's about wanting my team to continue to be successful and win major honours. As of now we are nowhere near winning the top prizes.

Absolute shambles or a transfer window, Khaldoon end of season interview was also bollocks.
Shambles is dramatic to say the least considering we have signed 4 first team players.

Why don’t you just wait and see how the season goes before deciding we won’t compete and we are no where near. If come the end of the season we are out the top 4 and dumped out of champions league early then questions can rightly be asked if we are buying well.

Nunes is good attacking wise , but leaves Ruben in no man’s land as he leaves so much space. He’s not defensive minded. Saw that at the club World Cup and at the end of the season.

It will be taken advantage of time and time again next season. Maybe not against the lower teams but against the best.

We need a right back that can do both otherwise we are going to be open on that side.

It’s not Nunes fault he’s a midfielder playing right back.

Or we could try and avoid the right side being an issue and fix it mate? Khaldoon saying in his interview they got it wrong was something most blues knew was a problem anyway? No point in admitting it after a season and then missing out of top 4 and then fixing it?

His final ball is shite as well and has warped many blues minds becuase he caused that goal against Villa.

They need to want to leave as well. That's the worrying part. I would take any fee from them just to shift the pair of them and make squad spaces/save some money on their wages. Ortega will want to be no.1 somewhere, and I have no doubt he will find a team.
This is what I think happened. i think the players we want gone are hunkering down and pointing to their contracts, so we can't move freely in the market due to non HG player rules and what not. Sometimes this happens, it happened in peps first year I think with all the old fullbacks.

Viana can’t bring more in before he moves others on, and the rumours of loaning youngsters out suggests some barnacles are not budging.

Maybe the general hope is that rodri and reijnders mitigate that space that nunes leaves

Goalkeeping situation on paper should be sorted
Midfield is a lot stronger than last year
Attack has more options and likes of Savio/Doku should really be having a big breakout season

The defence though. Left side doesn’t look to bad on paper but I just fear the right side of it limits us to just being challengers. Obviously we shouldn’t be having anywhere near as much of an injury crisis as last season so at least we will be getting a fully fit Dias but unfortunately I can’t see that being enough when I think we will have to break 90+ points

Would love to be proven wrong.

I do think if we play our “strongest 11” we can go toe to toe with any side in the world
But as great as guardiola is that was the big issue last season

That could also be possible mate but Chelsea have seemed to manage short term? We need that RB

Whilst I definitely don’t subscribe to the same level of melodrama, and talk of a ‘shambles of a transfer window’ feels absurd and entitled when we’ve signed four excellent additions (Reijnders, Cherki, Ait Nouri, Trafford) to the first team in much needed positions - I do agree not signing a right back would be a huge mistake, meaning we’d be going into a season with a clear weakness unaddressed.

RB is a position that will clearly be targeted by our opposition, and with no specialist playing there - will cause problems against the better teams.

This will also pull the rest of our defence out of shape, which creates holes which again will be easy to exploit.

Deliberately leaving a problem position unaddressed is negligent, so I hope this will be looked at with fresh eyes once we’ve focused on outgoings.

It definitely seems clear that our bloated squad is holding us back this summer, as we simply have way too many players.

We have five players out of contract next summer - Gundo, Bernardo, John Stones, Ederson, Stefan Ortega - who are past their best and will clearly be leaving us then, but who are happy sitting on the last year of their contracts and are holding us back this summer. Add to that players like Akanji, Ake, Grealish and Kovacic with two more years to run who also have huge questions against them, and it’s clear where the problem is.

If we could shift five of those, I’d imagine we’d be able to bring in the RB we all know we need.
