Who should we buy thenWe are making a massive fuck up not getting this position nailed down and it will cost us
That right back burnley just signed could be worth a tryWho should we buy then
We’ve literally just signed a player yesterday who had two loans and a sale with a buyback
January was a panic window. Shambles.
I’d never shout for one of our players to be picked for England.Yeah that’s the challenge really, Rico has what special / elite midfielders have that ability scan and keeps his head moving probably why the club are so keen to keep him and develop him, His size doesn’t really matter in midfield similar to Gavi low centre of gravity. Gavi and Lewis are really similar if you watch both.
You give Rico a full season in the middle you’ll have people shouting for him to start for England and us every week.
LolThat right back burnley just signed could be worth a try
I think this is the deep end.The bedwetters have excelled today
I think the previous summer window was more of a shambles.January was a panic window. Shambles.
Think they will all prove to be. Nico is clearly a decent player who needs more chances. Reis and Khusanov are for the future, and their signings can only be judged in 3-4 years time. Marmoush is immediate quality.Marmoush was a decent signing.
Liverpool don't have one. And for all of TAA's attacking qualities, there is no way (by the standard of what is being requested here) that he would be up to the required defensive capabilities. As for Frimpong and Kerkez, they are good prospects but very, very attacking by nature. Are they better than Ait-Nouri and Lewis/Nunes, not in my opinion. As for centre back, we have Dias, Gvardiol, Khusanov, Reis, Ake, Stones and Akanji. A comparison with Liverpool would not be favourable for them, IMO.
It is about balance. I agree that mobility in central midfield is a big shortfall (or was), but equally important was the lack of aggressive pressing from the front. If we get that right, neither our defence nor midfield will be vulnerable.
Good exchanging different opinions respectfully. Cheers.

I do wonder if some of em want us to fail so they can come on here and say i told you so, the negativity may just be a general reflection of their lives.I think this is the deep end.
While we were winning, the short-falls they predicted in the squad were not mentioned. As soon as we lose, their opinion is justified and becomes a beating stick.I do wonder if some of em want us to fail so they can come on here and say i told you so, the negativity may just be a general reflection of their lives.
Would have to push back on that, On June 20th, it was being widely reported that we wanted to keep Reis this season and that Guardiola was keen for him to stay. A month on, and it’s now increasingly looking like he and other young players will have to leave, as contracted senior players look set to remain, and their leaving is the only feasible way of whittling down our bloated squad. Our succession planning has been poor, largely because it’s been determined by what went before.
Nunes is 99% brilliant with most of his performances. I have no doubt in terms of his effort and also the attributes he has which should make him a brilliant right back. The issue has been the regular brain farts which did cost us a fair few times. Maybe he can cut them out?I don't think we'll see centre backs go to right back. Looking at the CWC tactics, Nunes and RAN were very, very high up and giving assists/getting into the box by overlapping their wingers (or Cherki/Foden as inside forwards).
So I can't see Khusanov/Akanji/Jonny Boulders going into that role. Unless Pep wants to essentially make it 3 centrally and allow the right winger the freedom while RAN overlaps on the other side.
Although, I think Leijnders influence will come in (Klopp's dippers team relied on wing backs getting up and down with genuine attacking ability, rather than just a body) and we'll see Nunes/RAN being asked to get up and down.
Luckily, both have brilliant engines and genuine ability going forward. Nunes is a bit suspect defensively but is nowhere near as shit as some on here make him out to be.
So do I take it you don't think we need a right back and would be happy to start another season without one ?I suggest a song for Matty Nunes to calm you guys down from panicing..
MATTEUS
MATTEUS
MATTEUS
BEST RIGHT BACK IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD!
Now calm down and support the club!
Air-Nouri is better than any of Liverpool’s full backs. Lewis and Nunes are way off the standard required in that position in my opinion.
Completely agree we need aggressive pressing.
We've won a treble and 6 PL's without a Left Back.So do I take it you don't think we need a right back and would be happy to start another season without one ?
Also please explain why saying we need a right back means we have a lack of support for our club.
My conclusion is your a muppet.
