It's Quiet the £250m return

I’d be interested to see that. Barcelona couldn’t register a lot of players but I don’t remember any action taken against them by any of the players.

I don't think you are obligated to play players if they have a contract. Just think we have a hard time moving players on because they are on big contracts and injury prone or near retirement.
Here's another Google search query. They summarise the results, but the links at the end of each sentence highlight the relevant info from expert sports laws firms.

As for Barça, because a player has the right to terminate their contract & sue, doesn’t means they have to if they don't want to.

You’ve been thinking that all spring and all summer. :-)
When we trot out against that lot on September 14th, you just know he’s going to be in the squad.
Someone was going before the Savinho deal came out of the blue, so whoever that was/is i see no reason that player still doesn't leave.

True but i still think Viana will have that chat and Gundo finishes his career in Turkey

Agree. He could be the last to go when it all falls in place. Free transfer, would always be welcomed back to the club as clearly a legend here.
I think the club would facilitate a free transfer as well mate, Gundo gets a nice lump sum signing on fee and gets his wish to play in Turkey before he retires.

He may yet finish his career there, but that would surely have been one of the easiest moves to facilitate. The fact that Rodri and Kovacic are coming off serious injuries suggests, to me, that Gundogan will see out this season with us.

İlkay Gündoğan isn’t going anywhere. Only a fool would walk away now — a full year of wages and bonuses on the line, the chance to win the Premier League, the Champions League, and every cup City’s in. Huge bonuses he’d never see in Turkey, and next summer he can still cash in with a monster free-agent deal.

That’s the reality.

Gundo doesn’t strike me as someone motivated by the big final payday. Seems like he lives a fairly modest life by footballer standards.

He probably wants to stay as he clearly loves City and given his coaching ambitions, wants to learn more from Pep.

I’ve said this loads of times on here before but it makes all kinds of sense for him to go onto the coaching staff after this season.

There is no chance Gundogan is leaving. If any discussion has been had, it’s been done weeks ago.

City aren’t going to disrespect a club legend and tell him a week before the season he needs to fuck off
As much as I agree with his legend status the club can be brutal at times. Not renewing KDB showed we still have that killer instinct, because we were just being accused of throwing contract extensions at everyone.

Gundo will want to play and that will be the biggest factor. If we strengthen and show it’s not possible he’ll move if someone will take him in my opinion. We would let him go for free.

I would rather he stays, just the foreign quotas.

The time to be brutal was months ago, not now.

Will take something extraordinary for Gundogan to leave now

On Gundogan’s time at Barcelona.

“And I’m one of those who are not going to stay for the contract to cause problems for anyone.”

I think he’ll remain and, in truth, I’m not overly concerned about that. We know his contract ends next year and it won’t be renewed.
