True but he's one of few right back options. If we had to play a top CL side this week there is a good chance he starts at RB. I just think Pep would want that option.
Am I right that Ake counts as HG?
Is it significant we signed to HG keepers this summer?
Cherki will play more centrally, mark peps comments about ball control after the game on Saturday.

Yep and along with Trafford, Foden, Bobb, Bettinelli, Stones & Ake we also have two PL HG vacancies. (One of which has to be club trained for CL purposes - presumably current U21 B Listers Lewis and O'Reilly will compete for that next season.)

I count 20 foreign players including 2 keepers.
Im counting Claudio Echeveri. So he is an obvious candidate. Ortega swaps to Trafford. And 1 more needed.
My guess would be 1 from: Akanji, Kovacic, Gundogan.
Any signings and more have to drop out.
Should have stuck to my guns on this instead of getting caught up in the hype. Would be surprised if either of Donnarumma or Rodrygo came in.
Kova and Gundo unlikely to leave but they should be the two for me.
Not as crazy as what we are paying Kalvin and Jack. Manuel has had a real part of our success but yes agreed 100-120k sounds more what he should be getting.

Well Jack had a similar part in that success treble season. Whilst he wouldn’t have been worth what we paid he was a 100m man. Wasn’t going to be cheap. Us getting him for next to nothing from Dortmund where he wasn’t first choice and tripling his wages is fucking crazy

He had a year left on his deal, didn’t want to renew and would have got good money as a free agent tbf
Agreed about the salary. Just think Grealish is more ridiculous he isnot far behind players like Sallad and VanDik etc. He came from a midtable club and nobody else was prepared to pay that kind of money same with Kalvin.

He had a release clause of 100m, and we decided to pay it as they wouldn’t budge (understandably) on their valuation. He helped us win the Treble and other trophies but couldn’t (or wouldn’t) maintain the standard we needed so had to go.
He, and we, move on …
Overpriced but not his fault we are stupid for paying it. I think he will thrive at Everton where he can be the man.
Reminder to all that Jack earned every penny of his salary (and more) in 2022/23. Was the best winger in the league for the greatest Premier League side ever. And absolutely pivotal in our Champions League win. Jack was bloody brilliant for us, and although not everyone here will agree with some of his off the field decisions, I sure as hell hope you defend his footballing ability on it. I'm quite comfortable saying that without Jack, we'd be without a treble. Worth every penny for this moment alone.
