It's Quiet the £250m return

Probably because Leverkusen is much better than Girona.
They were, but are they now? They've lost wirtz, frimpong, Tah and xhaka, all pivotal players for them, and of course their manager. Barely brought anybody in so far and now have ten hag in charge. Girona at least play the football that would benefit our young players, do you really want ten hag to recreate his glorious united football with our prized youngsters?

Doubt Gundo would go from Barcelona and City to Girona. Galatasaray seems like a better option. Or some good Italian or German club.
Gundo doesn't want to go. Galatasary was after him, but he said he prefers to stay at City. We should have made it clear he should move on. Instead, we always seem to leave it at do what you feel like.

honestly feel like £8m is very cheap in this market. He should be close to £20m in my opinion.

Based purely on potential, you may be right.

But if we want reasonable buy back and sell on clauses included in the deal (which seems to be very much Viana’s MO), then there’s no way we’re getting £20m for him, given he’s never played a single minute in the top flight.

He’s got huge potential - but if we include a reasonably cheap buy back for when that potential is realised, then £8m is a good deal.

We didn't offer a contract to Kevin who is widely seen as a PL legend, not just a City one.

The players have contracts, we can't force them to leave.

Gundo in particular was fit and available all the time. He was more valuable to us than Stones or Ake who played less minutes combined. It's not his fault we had many injuries and he had to play more games than planned. But he did well in the 2nd part of the season, helping us to win 40 pts from 19 games and finish 3rd.

If he stays, we may not register him for the CL. If we are honest with him that we can't register him and he chooses to stay, so be it. He's a legend.

When we re-signed Gundo, everyone was excited about the prospect of him learning to manage here.

What happened to that excitement, and what happens if he leaves?

Maybe the club woukd rather keep him round for another year with that in mind than let him go then bring him back in another capacity for a third time.

Would have loved to have kept Echeverri here.

But I am well happy with this loan move.

It is the best of the options he was linked with. Better than Roma, Girona, Lyon and even Dortmund imo. Gets to play in a top league, in the champions league too. In a team that have lost key players, so there should be space, for a good manager that was rated in the netherlands. And no buy option.

Hopefully the lad smashes it and is back here next season when we have more room.

Not a chance. We all Khusanov would be the one to miss out, and that would only slow his development/encourage him to leave. We shouldn't jeopardize our future like that.

Don't think Gundo will leave - he probably has enough credit in the bank to not be disliked by the fanbase and club for sticking out another 12 monhs on a deal we willingly gave him a year ago.

He'd be stupid not to stick it out before still then having his choice of clubs next Summer. That is, of course, if he's willing to not be a starter.

Plus, we've not been linked with anybody in his position so not like he's blocking a potential signing by staying.

If he's happy with a bench/rotation in cup games role then his experience will be invaluable IMO. A player is much more than what they offer on the pitch, their personality and leadership of it can sometimes be worth a lot too. Ask Scott Carson.
