It's Quiet the £250m return

What happened to Lyon ? I thought we had to loan someone
Not a chance in hell we signed a contract promising them anything.

A gentleman’s agreement to be favourable on terms should they put an offer in for someone sure but that’s all.

When we returned to pre-season training, many ITK's claimed Gundog, Kovacic & Nunes (amongst others from other positions) were told to find new clubs.

Everything went a bit quiet for a while, but last week reports started to surface again that Gundog & Kovacic have been asked to look for moves. Both have insisted they're staying.

If Nunes was added to the leave list, it would free up a midfield & right back spot, plus a non-HG squad place too. This would allow City to retain Echeverri & to move for Livramento OR Vanderson, who many on here rave about.

I've never seen Vanderson play outside of a few YouTube clips, so couldn’t really give an honest opinion on his quality, but he'd suddenly become a €40m option if the aforementioned players were to leave this window.

Vanderson & Lewis as our right back options for the season? It's a distinct possibility...
Mosr of all that hypothetical is irrelevant. My point was the 25 man list isn't the only thing to consider, it doesnt matter if we can fit him into the squad list or not by getting rid of players in other positions, we simply dont need another player in his position for this season. He's behind all those players i mentioned previously and wont see enough game time to merit keeping him here over a loan.

So which first teamers leave our departure lounge first for the terminal?

I reckon this might be the chronogical order (but maybe not all this window)

Akanji
Ederson
Ortega
Gundogan
Savinho
I could see Akanji going and probably the 2 keepers as well.

I suspect Gundogan will leave at the end of his contract and Savinho will get at least 1 more season (hopefully many more).

I can see the Ederson and Akanji deals progressing relatively quickly, providing Gala actually sort their shit out and make what we consider a reasonable offer for them.

I can’t see that either will want to stay at the Club (Eddie clearly wants out, and Manu won’t want a season as 6th choice CB), and I’d imagine personal terms will already be more or less agreed.

Savinho I think could well happen next week, if Spurs up their offer after our game - which it seems they are intending to do.

Ortega I’m not sure on - there doesn’t seem to be any interest from anywhere, but he’s clearly not in our plans anymore.

And Gundo seems determined to stay, so I think he’ll see out his last season with us.

You missed off Phillips.

Admittedly, I keep forgetting him too. I wonder if people look surprised when he walks past at the training centre?

I'm starting to doubt that.

Do people realise that Rodrygo would come on higher wages than Rodri and Foden, without being close to what these 2 have done?

Rodrygo's best season in La Liga is 17 goals/assists. That's about as many as DM Rodri in 23/24.
We'd be absolutely fucking mental to pay Rodrygo the highest salary at the club, hence, i don't think we'd do it

He’s reportedly on 240k a week in Madrid which is less than what Marmoush is on now.

I don’t think it’s an issue.

Rodri and Foden are also getting new contracts if you believe reports.

We don’t know what he’d want. If it’s similar it’s not out of pattern for a new signing of a certain calibre

As I wrote, I'm not against signing Rodrygo. But I can see why we may be a bit reluctant.

Doku and Savinho are on less than 150k a week combined. They are 2 and 4 years younger than Rodrygo respectively and are similar in terms of goals/assists in league games.

There’s a lot that would still need to be worked through for it to happen, which is why I’m not 100% on it - but if the desire is there from all parties to bring Rodrygo in, I’d imagine we’ll find a way of making it work within our wage structure.

We’ll have a total package in mind for him, including transfer fee and wages over the course of the contract - and it’s Viana’s job to find a way through that with the player’s agent and the selling Club which we’re comfortable with.

This is where the structure of a transfer fee becomes important, with staggered payments and performance related add-ons - alongside the bonus structure of the players wages, so there’s a performance element to those too which takes him up to the level he wants.

And if Savinho really wants Spurs, then providing they meet our terms - it seems like we have a plan to let him go and replace him.

APT rules illegal as well so now may be the time to get the Etihad deal and FAB deal in as well!

Yeah I get that. I think the club have some money to spend on wages with Jack basically of the books and Kev gone.

I think the club would be okay with signing him on big wages if we didn't have so many other players surplus to requirements. Unless we can push people out of the door and free up that money we just can't bring him in. Our wage bill is already huge and we've allowed a situation to occur where we've got plenty who are happy to sit on the money even if game time is reduced. For all the issues people had with Walker, at least he had the decency to prioritise playing football over getting paid a fortune.
