No RB and this should be the absolute priority. They don't have to be better than Cafu or Walker just an improvement on Lewis and Nuñes.

And nobody, and I'm not saying they have to be as good, backing up Rodri to give him a rest or god forbid in the event of injury.
González is a decent player but not a 6.



If we assume Rodri and Reinjders are starters then 3 from Foden/Cherki/Bobb/Doku/Marmoush/
Savinho to support Haaland is plenty.

González can back up Reijnders.with Lewis and O'Reilly in support.

CBs we have Dias, Stones, Ake, Khusanov.


This means Akanji and Gundogan can go.

Who's actually linked us the Guehi? I've not seen any credible sources.

Plus it's absolutely not going to happen he wants 1st team football in a World Cup year and with us he's not guaranteed it at the dippers he definitely is.

I'm talking about taking the Guéhi opportunity now, if Akanji & Aké move on this season. Even if they all remained, there's a chance all three could be gone next summer.

This could theoretically leave us with Dias, Gvardiol, Khusanov, Guéhi, Reis & Bah. That's my thought process...

If Guehi was a target I thkn he would be guarnteed starter....he gets ahead of Dias easily and potentially competes with Gvardiol...Gvardiol can also be used to cover left back for Alt Nouri (which we have already seen we need)

However its bullshit and wont happen...he is dippers bound this summer or next

Don’t disagree, though I’d add Gvardiol to the centre back list.

However, nobody has been able to identify a feasible right-back nor a central midfielder who can adequately deputise for Rodri, especially when his rehabilitation remains uncertain. I expect the squad to be whittled down this week but with no further outfield arrivals, and then we see where we are come January.

Agree no real right back options, but Gonzalez is looking good as aRodri back up already better than last season and will continue to improve.

How did I forget him? Probably the first choice when fit. And cover at LB.

As I said, much will depend on Rodri’s rehabilitation. If Gonzalez is doing much better, and there remains scope for improvement, Rodri can be nursed back carefully. If, however, Gonzalez struggles, then Guardiola may rely on Rodri too much and that could hamper his rehabilitation. The period to Christmas should enlighten us, but I would hope we have earmarked a possible alternative if necessary.

Not disagreeing and not Lewis bashing but if Nunes was playing on Saturday, Johnson is not running away from him for that first goal, as he did from Lewis.

And Rodri protects the ball, or more likely, forces the keeper to go long which prevents the second (which was more Trafford's fault than Nico's as it was a horrific pass). Fine margins but shows the decline in the side. We may have made mistakes in previous seasons but they would rarely cost us the 3pts.

Your correct, its why I said earlier this year it will take this summer and next summer window for City to rebuild to a title winning team, this year is a season of progression only.
