He's a Lancashire lad through and through and all family live just outside Blackburn so i doubt London life would be an issue.

Probably not that said I moved to London when I was 20 and had no intention of leaving until I was 34 and had our first child.

I am not too worried about the outgoings. That’s the club and players problem I care about the players that are brought in or not.

I am sure loads of the outgoings will get done last minute and I know other clubs do that not usually us mind. I am just not sure how they get the medicals and more complex finance done at the last minute especially when it’s clubs in Turkey it’s not down the road. Also will games at the weekend be affecting things or will staff and players not in squad be working on the deals anyway

Serious re-writing of history here, I dont think Stones stepped into midfield once when Lewis played, because Lewis was doing exactly that. Stones stepping into midfield came when Walker (and Akanji at times) played right back and by proxy in a defensive 3 with Dias and Ake when we had the ball.

I dont hate Lewis, far from it, but i do feel he's nowhere near good enough to be a starting right back in a team challenging for major honours. Hopefully im proven wrong.

You've misunderstood me, as I wasn't saying Lewis at RB allowed Stones to step into midfield from CB. The way Lewis stepped into midfield, performing the inverted role, helped Stones understand how to do it effectively.



To be honest, there's a significant part in the 22/23 chapter of Perarnau's book that covers how important Pep & staff thought Lewis was during the season.

Yep I do it a lot of people do it! Not reading all posts or what people write! Yep it’s hard to keep up! I’ve always said we need a new right back! What I’ve said is he is fine at playing right back against teams like wolves and his best position is final 3rd linking play up! I think a lot see that but bang on about what he doesn’t bring to the team..

Might seem the most idiotic post in this thread but maybe Pep needs to relax with the side to side.. let Doku/ Bobb/ Savinho/ Nunes cross it and have 4 targets who can head the ball into the net.

Kinda like Dzeko/ Balotelli/ Kompany/ Yaya.

I can't remember us getting headed goals for a while now with the exception of Nico O'Reilly and Khusanov and they've not played for a while now.

It's nice to add a quality where you can win ugly by out muscling/ out jumping your opponents because you're not always going to win in a pretty manner!

Haaland looks frightened of it, would rather do anything but head a ball.

That was my point.. we need targets.. since other teams are very happy we side to side and try to cut them open but we will not try to hit targets aerially as we don't have targets in there.

I still remember how we won at Arsenal away in 21-22 when we lobbed it high and Rodri and Laporte were there and managed to sneak it in. We don't have those kinds of players anymore.

Stones also not great at heading it in.. but Ake/ Rodri are semi decent.. they're not playing lately though. Nico O'Reilly might be our best aerial threat but again not playing!

Dias and Stones are fine but the delivery needs to be there. I don't think anything exceptional about Gabriel or Saliba but Rice delivers such a good corner they just need to nudge it in the net.
