It's Quiet the £250m return

Pep told us during the CWC that our transfer business was over. Barring Donarumma who the club didnt probably condsider until it suddenly became a possibility we wont get anyone. That comment by Vianna the other day that got peeople excited was just a throw away remark and could easily have been related to outgoingss

Without addressing the cover for Rodri situation and the glaring issue at right back and centre half I think the club have sold themselves a little short. The players that we have brought in are all decent players BUT its the gaps we havent covered that are going to be a problem.

I think changing goalkeeper as well (and this maybe out of the control of the club) will lead to difficulties as well.

Potential (Cherki, Khusonov, Reis) has been bought but besides Reijnders that is about it.

Our season could well hinge on getting Rodri up to speed and then keeping him along with John Stones fit...this along with whether Khusonov and Nico G can force their way into the starting 11 regulalry and make that step up we all hope and think they can. Injuries to Stones and/or Rodri and we again start to struggle.

Gonzalez is the Rodri cover and he’s been good there and betting better no reason to think he won’t keep improving , not sure that we would get better.A right back would’ve been nice but we’ll be okay.

Until we shift Akanji, Kovacic, Gundogan, Ortega and Phillips to a lesser degree, we cannot bring anyone in.

All those players didn't even make the bench last week, and then you have Gvardiol and Savinho who didn't even make the bench as well.

Peps right, the squad has too many players that he cannot guarantee minutes to and they are on big wages meaning you cannot just outcast them from the squad.

This rebuild is going to take another summer and I think we are going to have a bumpy ride for next few months until Pep lands on something that works like he did in the treble year.

As an appetizer I'll give you some from Serie A including Kayode on loan at Brentford from Fiorentina. Bellanova, Rensch, Bisseck, Savona and Cambiaso (yes that Cambiaso)...

Ok they're all fine.

Are they better than Nunes and Rico - slightly at best?

Are they already integrated into the squad? No.

Will they need a year to settle? Yes.

Are they worth the price to slightly upgrade, possibly? Probably not.

I'm not denying right other backs exist - you could say Molina, Mukiele, Dodo, Boey... All reasonable answers. I'm debating whether they represent enough of an improvement to give up on Rico and Nunes.

Best just to assume Stones will be injured and soon too.
