I've been following. Akanji and Gundogan have always been obvious as well tbf hardly surprising is it and they've been reported all summer, nothing new.

Fair play if you're genuine and I appreciate your info obviously but I'm not sure, just my opinion.
 
So, Pep knows best and we don't need a new right back? Come on, I actually don't even mind Nunes, I think he was unlucky for the pen, but we need a real right back. Stevie Wonder can see that.

Well here you go!

No fight, no intensity...defenders who cant defend (Nunes, Lewis, Dias and now Alt Nouri)
No creativity centrally and no drive or physical presence
Wingers who arent wingers (no matter who is on the pitch) - we simply dont have a natural wide player baring maybe Doku

We have been messing around with Donarumma for weeks - we dont need a goalkeeper before we need everything that is mentioned above....they should have all been a priority and Im sorry to say the club have failed badly.
Top 6 fight is on at best at present

I go and rewatch the Khaldoon interview from June. he wasnt happy with last season and approved quite some spending in January and the summer too. an the start of this season is just as bad.
 
Bobb was one on one and had an simple opportunity to get on left and hit it. Ran in to defender instead. Seriously, take some initiative pep, our wingers have 0 goal threat, it's putrid. I don't care what anyone says but I'd sell savinho ( simply because the offer is there) and buy bowen. We need production, not fancy names, nice touches and fifa bro validation.
A right back is a necessity too someone who is no nonsense like Kyle walker was
 
Squad is toothless no denying it now. Our midfield is nonexistent. Cherki, Foden, Kovacic and Savio don’t change that result imo. Our defenders were absolutely useless bar Khusanov.

We had 6 shots they had more and scored twice as many.
 
The club have seemingly changed it's policy from buy players who can win now, to buy players who we hope can develop.

Out of those players we have recruited over the past 3 years. I can look at maybe less than half that actually look like they would be up to the standard of that treble winning team. A lot of players who would be excellent squad players, but no one who looks like they would come into that team and be a difference maker. You can't miss on half your signings and expect to compete. We have moved away from buying ready made players and have moved into this developmental philosophy, which clearly has not worked.

If the club are serious about competing, they need to start buying players that we know can play in this league at that level, and stop betting on potential and hoping they can put it all together.

I fear this may be a very rough year, and I think heads could roll come the end of the season.

Think we are too cautious - sometimes when the squad is lacking badly in certain areas, you need to take the plunge.
If the club is tracking RBs it’s taking too long & not doing a very good job!

How can you be so sure?

Cherki & Foden are very creative and we missed them today.

And even the other two you mentioned, you can’t be so sure how the game would have been if they had played.
 
Unsurprisingly, not solving any of last seasons issues on the transfer market this summer means the sames issues are still there. Still no RB. Still no player outside of Haaland who offers a goal threat. Still no player who can cover for Rodri without us conceding loads of chances. We let the best playmaker in PL history leave without really replacing him at all.

What the hell is going on? How can Viana possibly be of the opinion that this squad is even close to being good enough? It might be in a league who has 3 serious clubs and 15 league 2 level teams but this is the premier league.

That might be right but as well as having a “favourite” & a budget - you need to set a time scale. When that timescale has been reached you have to go for someone else (rather than nobody) however reluctantly it might be
