It's Quiet the £250m return

Panic or not we need to buy world class players.

The players we are trying to move on were once upon a time purchased by city. Now some have failed and some have come to their natural end.

The problem is who we target. All Alvarez type deals or young players. Which is great when you have a world class nucleus.

We don’t have the latter anymore. It’s glaring obvious where the problems started. Not replacing world class aging players with world class players.

Time we started a new recruitment policy. Stacked with ok players won’t win us a title.

How many are available on the market willing to come to City?

Rice said no.
Bellingham said no.
Wirtz said no.

It's clear what we need but there have to be people willing to say yes!

It's not like money is the problem.. they didn't want to come here because of 115 and it's still not resolved yet!

Sell one of the best U21 right backs in the world and one of the best U21 wingers in the world to start the rebuild?

I don't think people appreciate how ahead of the curve Rico and Sav are.
What we need to do is get bodies around Haaland for the second ball if the keeper continues to launch it, not leave him isolated with 3 or 4 opposition players around him. That's just basic football, and is down to the coaching staff to sort out because it's an embarrassment at this level to hoof it to one player and hope for the best.

True but this team has never played football like that. Since Pep has arrived we’ve never been built like that. We don’t have the facilities for hoof ball. We’re not Liverpool with energetic midfielders that run around all day. We’re not defensively sound like Arsenal. We play death by 1000 passes. I’m so worried, how does this gets fixed

We absolutely have to sign proper big players tomorrow because we're fucking awful. Livramento, Wharton, Donna and that already sounds much better. Or even Rodrygo.
Imagine the club doing that. They just want to try and be clever in the transfer market.

Honestly I don't think Reijnders and Cherki are that far off Rice and Wirtz for less than half the cost.

Bellingham would suffer a lot in a Pep system.

I was getting impatient with our transfer window last week as it looked like no progress had been made on Donnarumma. Now it appears to be on. If City end the window with two top class players in Reijnders and Donnarumma joining, then that will be a good window.

I was impressed with Trafford today at Brighton but I want players in our squad who raise the excitement level of our squad. I want City players to be flying all week at training, and to be completely committed on the pitch. That's what I hope will be the effect of Donnarumma signing. I imagine being a player and walking out with Donnarumma in my team. It would make me feel larger than life. We need that state of mind.

Let's sign him first and then think about the changes it's going to have on our side.
That will quickly fade when we play Rico/Nunes at right back and our centre back partnership changes every fortnight.

Partial true but timing is more of an issue here. No one of that’s calibre what’s to play second fiddle to Rodri and Kev. Wirtz the jury is still out.

Point being we don’t go after a tevez or Yaya level signing. The charges has also done it job I will give you that.

It’s a pep problem. We want him to make ok players world class and he has done that but it’s impossible to repeat over and over again.

More I think about it the more we have let him down. Thats unacceptable, taken him for granted.

So the real problem is with the board and recruitment. How much pep is to blame is up for debate.

The poor season just gone and now this mess is just a small blip in time.

What about that man from Del Monte?

You think Reijnders - who so far has completely disappeared in 2 straight games when the going got tough - is top class? That's a hell of a show of faith. Flat track bullying an awful Wolves team doesn't exactly count for much either.

As a matter of interest who else did we beat off to sign the guy? I'd reserve full judgement on him until we've seen the season out but he looks weak as piss when the chips are down.
Sadly this is true.

Any sort of pressure and he suddenly looks like an Italian league player.

It's early for him yet but seems no better than Garcia/Fernando. I'd rather have Nico in his spot personally.

In fairness, Marmoush and Gonzalez should not be perceived as gambles. Their playing experience and fees suggested they would be ready-made, though for the latter things have not yet worked out. Similarly, Ait-Nouri and Reijnders are first-team ready. Our main problem is getting them all on the field with the likes of Rodri, Bernardo, Gvardiol, Stones, Haaland, Dias, and Foden. Add a solid goalkeeper and right-back and we suddenly have a very strong nucleus with numerous flair players to add.
But what you have just said is the problem. Stones and Bernardo are in the last years of their deals and more likely than not are gone come the end of the season. Rodri is just coming off a major knee injury and is 29 going on 30. Dias has seemingly fallen off a cliff, at least based on the first few games this season, but I am prepared to give him time to get right. Gvardiol has shown glimpses and has had great moments and great games, but we need to give him a run at the same position as opposed to moving him between LB and Center Back. Foden can't seem to get healthy, and he will have a year left on his deal this summer, so we have to decide on him next summer as well.

I think the spine needs to be replaced, and I think we should have started that process this summer. I think the problem is recruitment-wise, a lot of players don't know who the manager is going to be in a year or two, and are hesitant to sign here only to be gone 2 years later when someone new comes in.

The past 5 years, I never worried about what we would do if players left because the club always had a plan. This is the first time that I really don't know if they have a long-term plan as to how they are going to build the next iteration of this club's team.

The best we can hope for is the departure of those that need to go with so little time left in the window. Personally I would keep Akanji for the right back slot as long as he doesn’t play inverted and be expected to create. We need to be ruthless and so Gundo, Ake Ortega Nunes, Kova, Eddie, Lewis and Sav should go and bring in Dona, Liveramento and Rodrygo at a minimum. This would go a long way to addressing the issues we have while reducing the head count. All doable if we are willing to pay
