It's Quiet the £250m return

Of course Pep could do better. But just look at our squad, it's not like any other manager would win the league with these players would they?
but we still dont have to hang them out dry with poor tactics that they unable to do as it will just cause us not even getting a CL pace in the end.

The team isnt functioning properly at the moment and being stubborn while watching us suffer is pretty poor to be honest? Its SO easy to break through us its unreal but to ignore that is close to arrogance rather than accepting it and trying to stablise it.

Look at this. Couldn't believe it.

one big lesson is despite great players for us for years we need to move them on while they have little bit to offer but not much.

Real Madrid got huge fees for Casemiro and Varane when they sensed they are about to fall off a cliff. even Liverpool managed to find buyers for Henderson, Fabinho who were both past it.

we maybe did it a year too early with Mahrez and Laporte especially.

but we should have done it with Gundo, Bernardo, Ederson, Akanji etc and we didnt and now left in this strange situation with them that they bring in very little fees overall while causing a delay on our rebuild.

it should have us moving them on rather than them dictating when they had enough...

but Txiki didnt care much with our recruitment and forward planning since the treble did he...
Pep held up his hands and said City wanted to refresh a year ago and he stopped them. You could argue we shouldn’t have listened but it must be hard to ignore his wishes.

should have been explained to him that long term future of club much more important than him trying to give one more go to old guard and how it can backfire if we delay the rebuild. Walker to be won over in that sushi dinner by Pep for extra 3 years contract. Gundo coming back. etc. Ederson already eyed Saudi move last summer I bet we would have got 30m there.

need news about a right-back, I can’t stand Nunes anymore! We need a proper full-back! Where is Damien10!

How in heaven's name would a big company let someone take tough management decisions who reportedly hates taking tough management decisions??

Hiding because he’s a chancer, I will gladly take it back if we are indeed active but it doesn’t look like we will be doing anything else

Will take another 2 or 3 summer windows to bring in top players to repair the damage made and get certain players bought recently out of the club.

City also have to have a total rethink in their transfer strategy and stop giving a crap about transfer spending criticism.

The club are obsessed in finding hidden gems no one else wants who Pep can make into world class players and then point to our net spend.

It worked for a season or two with Delph and Zinchenko etc but its led to now buying mediocre to poor players.

Mamoush and Ait Nouri going to AFCON. Doku always injured, Foden not sure what’s going on with him and Cherki out with a serious injury. Looks very weak in the forward areas. Think this will be another if we finish in the CL spots it’s been a goood year season, which baffles me considering Pep ain’t got long left. The recruitment went all wrong when we let Arsenal get Rice.

And yet when we do look sign signing one of the best players in the world (in his position) people still complain.

So, are we stopping at the GK? No RB?

If we are going to do anything at RB (assuming the player is non-homegrown), we need Gundo, Akanji and Ortega to leave first - or we need to be willing not to list them in our squad for the CL/PL, which seems highly unlikely.

As it stands, we can’t bring anyone in.

I would imagine we have options lined up in the eventuality we are in a position to move - but the later it gets, the less likely that’s going to be.

If we want a manager grinding out results to get a CL spot in the league, Pep is probably not the best. If we want a manager able to make us winning trophies, Pep is arguably the best in history.

For me, it makes little difference if we finish 4th or 8th. We either compete to win or we dont. I wont start pretending finishing 4th is good just because clubs who fail to win has gaslighted their fans into thinking just qualifying for CL is some kind of success so they have something to celebrate.

We have the best manager in history at our club. Replacing him will take us further away from being the best, not closer. In my opinion.

Cherki, Foden and Savinho should all be back before the AFCON tournament starts. I would guess Ake or Gvardiol will cover for RAN.

We can leave them out of the squad but we would still have to pay them and according to a previous post, we don't have much salary headroom to play with. We perhaps need their salaries off the books in order to make more signings.

Pep gets away lightly here.

Haaland, Rodri, Foden, Dias, Marmoush, Gvardiol, Reijnders is the spine of a title-challenging squad.

Throw in probably the best set of young players in the league as back up and the future.

Liverpool are ahead of us because they happen to have two of the best players in the world but they're both over 33 and they're not exactly going to last a lot longer.

Without the control game, the pausa and the high line (none of which do our incomings suit) we'd do a lot better.
