It's Quiet the £250m return

Ortega can sit tight on his contract. He doesn’t have to go anywhere. Train and collect his wages every week.
Apart from the fact he wants out for first team football and everyone knows that. You are right about the money though, some teams might not be able to offer him the same so like Akanji a loan deal where we top up the rest could be likely

Is it really that difficult to look for positives when you sign Donnarumma and Reijnders. Reijnders is less obvious than Donnarumma but I am very impressed with him.
GD is a top keeper and strengthens us but the Trafford signing on top of it makes it look a little strange but agree it adds to the side. TR has shown flashes but is 27 and was at Alkmaar at age 25 and had one great season in seria an albeit was outshone by Scott McTominay. I think he will be decent but maybe not quite of the level we have come to expect.

Just realised Arsenal have spent more (net) than Liverpool this summer!!

That is insane
Donnarumma saved City's window otherwise we'd have exited the window further behind Liverpool and Arsenal.

Had we not have bought Donnarumma, I would have questioned City's ownership commitment to challenging Liverpool and Arsenal. We are rebuilding City now. Buying the best keeper in the world puts a huge piece in place. We'll need to add 1-2 more players of a similar stature imo. Who are our wide forwards? Who is the no. 10? I am disappointed that we let Echeverri go on loan.

You may be right. Sky Germany reported €16-17m before he had signed as the salary. And if you google, lots of other sources say the same even if you disregard capology. The other city player salaries equally when you google ate reported in lots of sources.

That’s the thing with rumours though - one site makes a claim with no stated evidence, then others are free to run with it using the original source as their ‘evidence’.

So you can then pull up lots of different outlets all making the same claim, probably citing Sky Germany as the source in the substance of their article.

It then becomes the truth, and ends up on apparently more reputable sites that claim to be accurate (I’m not making a judgement on capology here, as I don’t use it).

Yet I bet if you looked for the source of the claim on capology, it would still be the original article - which has no evidence whatsoever to support it.

And it’s from Sky, of all sources - who we all know are completely unreliable when it comes to reporting fees/salaries to suit their narrative.

Peak de Bruyne, Yaya, David Silva were wonderful. I think Reijnders might be able to play at that level. I agree he has only shown flashes so far e.g., that run and lofted pass at Wolves was special. I am being hopeful.

Bring in another 2 players next Summer, and then we will be back. Buying Donnarumma convinces me that we are serious about rebuilding. Isak will take all the headlines, but the thought of having the world's best goalkeeper at City for 5 years is encouraging. Donnarumma, Stones, Rodri, Haaland is some spine. We are missing a no. 10, and there are question marks around a left-sided forward and right back. We might already have a no. 10 in {Foden, Cherki, Echeverri}, whilst Doku and Savinho might develop. Where will O'Reilly end up playing?

We are probably one window away from having a title-challenging side. And we may surprise on the upside.

Remain to be convinced that Donnarumma will suit our style of play.

There are people on here that have a real hard on for shot stopping and don't want to hear that his kicking and passing is a real weak spot.

Either Pep changes up how we do things at the back or we'll be hoping his shortcomings don't create problems.

Obviously recent success under Pep has influenced what people think and expect. I’m happy with how it’s going so far with the rebuild and I think there’s things that have happened that are being overlooked.

Viana is clearly different to Txiki but the club may have also changed recently due to 115 and other factors.

The RB is a glaring issue. But those at the club clearly think Nunes/Lewis are a better option than some players available in the market. To be fair there’s not many ready made starters we could have bought, even Livramento who I hoped we got still is young and would need time to adapt here. All new signings need time to adapt so having two makeshift RBs that know the club and system is a back handed compliment of sorts.

With Savio it looked like he wanted to go and it looked like Spurs eventually were willing to pay the money we wanted. But we didn’t let him go because the replacement could be signed, or some people still think Soriano blocked the move. But if true it’s because Rodrygo and only Rodrygo wasn’t available we didn’t sell Savio.

That’s two positions where we haven’t budged and panic bought, have said we only want the best available options and I think in some respects that’s good to see.

Donnarumma, Cherki, Reijdners, Marmoush, Nico G, Ait-Nouri, Trafford are all more established signings with good - great experience. You can’t moan we aren’t signing world class players and then moan we’ve signed Donna - he’s one of the best in the world.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. I still wouldn’t be surprised if we moved in Jan if like last year we were struggling and players are either injured or still want out. City will be back. But I’d also back us to have clicked more with the new players by December

So we still need a right back, a centre back who’s dominant in the air and not always injured, and wingers that provide goals/assists - January needs to be busy again.

Would you give over attacking people (and there are a great many) who think we've had a terrible window/12 mths?

The signings have not been good, we've spent the same amount of money as the dippers in 2025 roughly and we are miles worse off, absolutely MILES.

Fucking happy clapper final boss.
You've bought into the media led idea to compare our spending over two windows to the dippers one.

That’ll be me then. He’s a goalkeeper, stopping the ball entering our net are his number 1, 2 and 3 priorities! Do that well and the rest won’t matter much.

So as it stands, assuming Ederson, Donnarumma, Akanji and Gundogan all complete their moves, we have 26 players. We have 17 NHG players including Ortega.

NHG
Donnarumma
Ortega
Nunes
Dias
Khusanov
Gvardiol
Ait-Nouri
Rodri
Bernardo
Kovacic
Reijnders
Nico Gonzalez
Cherki
Savinho
Doku
Haaland
Marmoush

HG
Bobb
Trafford
Foden
O'Reilly
Lewis

AT
Stones
Ake
Phillips
Bettinelli

We have Kabore, Nypan, Echeverri, Reis, Bah, Akanji and Grealish out on loan.

We don’t know the status of Wilson-Esbrand and Mbete.

Make no mistake, this is a huge rebuild required and there is so much deadwood still with us on big contracts.

*Amended to include Bah and Bettinelli.

Il start by saying, I’m trying to stay positive after the disappointment of no right back signing and 2 poor performances.

Looking at the squad you have a few that are out the door next summer with contracts ending plus some with a year left that you’d think we would be keen to push out:

Bernardo (out of contract)
Stones (out of contract)
Ake (1 year left)
Kovacic(1 year left)

Then Youv got what we would consider the not good enough list;

Ortega
Nunes
Phillips (if anyone will have him)

Which leaves me to the point, next summer we will be in a much stronger place to finish the rebuild.

We’ve got plenty of project players and they have a year to learn the pep way.
Cherki, reindjers, marmoush plus savio and Bobb can have a year playing 1st team football every week.

We then have at least 4 non HG spots to fill with plenty of wages saved and plenty of headroom financially.
Hopefully 115 has gone our way and we can then add the world class players to a pretty good spine of a team.

Liverpool and Arsenal can’t keep spending at their current rates. I’m convinced this is a one off from Liverpool due to what they consider circumstances.

Which helps the market not be over inflated and would leave us as the biggest fish in the pond.

… here’s hoping anyway!!

Donnarumma 26
Trafford 22
Betinelli 33

Khusanov 21
Stones 31
Ake 30
Dias 28
Lewis 20
Gvardiol 23
Ait-Nouri 24

Rodri 29
Reijnders 27
Gonzalez 23
Nunes 27
Kovacic 31
O'Reily 20
Bernardo 31

Doku 23
Foden 25
Savinho 21
Cherki 22
Bobb 22

Haaland 25
Marmoush 26

How we end the window, Donnarumma is a massive signing. The squad average age is much better but buying a RB is a huge mistake on the clubs behalf. It's going to be a tough old season as our new boys gel unfortunately.

Next summer is likely to see Stones, Ake, Bernardo & Kovacic go meaning we'll have pretty much refreshed the full squad.

If we can get our fitness levels up and play for longer than an hour we'll fight for the top 4 thats, the best we can hope for imo. Let's hope Livramento doesn't sign a new deal and hopefully we test Newcastle next summer.

You'd have to assume there's going to be some type of trade off with the style of the GK in relation to certain parts of our play at times. The forum will be interesting should a mistake be made at the back, which is a distinct possibility.

next summer should be massive

Stones and Silva contracts will end, i doubt they will be resigned

i also doubt Ake, Kovacic, Nunes will stay beyond this season

This should be make it or break it season for Doku
Savio might also demand a move.
Nico.G also would be moved, if he does not get minutes
