It's Quiet the £250m return

There's a risk with every signing. Big players fail too. Many examples. Ballack and Shevchenko were top players when they moved to Chelsea, Veron and di Maria to United, Kaka to Real, Coutinho and Dembele to Barca more recently. The latter two showed that paying huge money to sign a player is very risky. Liverpool may experience it as well.
Acl for Isak in a few weeks please

Just because Liverpool spent 500 million pounds in a window doesn't make them the template to follow. They lost Firmino and Mane couple of years ago and spent good money on Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo (with mixed results). Diaz and Nunez are gone now. They have replaced them by adding Wirtz, Ekitike and Isak, paying crazy amount of money. They still have to replace Salah in a couple of years and that will be some task!!

The idea that they have added from a point of strength is a bit misguided. They have replaced 2-3 of their attacking options with better players (on paper) but the money they have paid for them is Bonkers!! In my opinion, their summer transfer window was a bit over enthusiastic to say the least!

I wish our transfer windows were like that.

For what reason ?

More than one. First and foremost to get us back to the pinnacle of European football, and taking the title back off the scouse scum. Ideally for many more years.

Second as a big fuck you to the cartel, the media gobshites and the PL, all of whom are trying to stop us leaving their beloved rags/scousers/arses behind. We did that, so they all club together to make up these fake charges. I want to see us smash them, fuck them up and win everything again.

Finally, I’ve got used to seeing us win, and have the best players and enjoyed it far more than last season and those pre-2008. I’d rather see the likes of Rice, Bellingham, Yamal, Hakimi, Barcola, Guehi in the hallowed blue shirt than Lewis, Doku, Nunes, Savinho level players.

But it isn’t really how we reached the pinnacle in the first place or stayed there for so long. I’m more than happy to follow a similar path and build a new team, make good players better see where it takes us.Don’t really care what or how other teams do it.As for the media again couldn’t care less doesn’t affect my life.

The top class winger spurs wanted to spend over £60mill on annd we rated enough to turn down. Gonzalez, who is still learning the hardest position to play in a Pep team a position Rodri too almost 2 seasons to get,yet he's looked very good and improving this season.
Liverpools window we'll see whether it's better than ours or not in time otherwise you're just guessing.
Liverpools window is already 6 points ahead of ours. And that's before adding the second best CF in the league. And that's with playing Arsenal AND Newcastle away in the bag.

Plus if Spurs offered nearer the 80 million we valued Sav at, he'd be gone.

Rodri out all last season and Nico still struggled to nail a starting shirt speaks volumes to me.

Always best to judge a transfer window after a few games rather than months yes, your Gonzalez take is no better than peoples Rodri take from him first 2 years almost, seems some learn nothing from previous signings and their development. If you want to live in fear of liverpool and their transfers carry on ,not for me.

It may be their time in the sun, it might not.
Their window may be successful, it might not.
Their success won't be based on one window, nor will ours.
It takes time to build a team. We have dominated football based on buying talent, not superstars. They became superstars with us, not before they arrived.
As for Nico, it is a moot point. Pep chose the experience that delivered CL qualification.
Judge him on this completed season by all means, as the other January signings.

Pool 6 points ahead of us despite having a negative XG vs XGA on the season lol. Liverpool have been hugely disappointing but very lucky. They've scored 8 goals from 3.4xg, and conceded 4 from 4.02xga. Expected points sits at 3.54. This Liverpool team looks miles off last seasons. A wonder goal from Sozbo against Saka/Havertz/Saliba-less Arsenal in a game they created nothing. A 95' winner against 10 man Newcastle who absolutely battered them. An 86' winner against a weaker Bournemouth team after blowing a 2-0 lead at Anfield. And a loss to Palace in the Community Shield.

We've been very poor and even our expected points sits at 5.3. A whole other discourse on this forum if it was us that lucked into the 9 points. We didn't have a preseason. Its surely been a weird period for our squad with all the senior players being shipped off. Huge distractions. Lots of new lads that will grow in confidence and ability. We will be fine lads. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we went on from here to win 5 straight titles again. Unfortunately for others, we are inevitable...

There was a list last year of players who cost over £100m. There was only one IMO who could be deemed a success and it wasn't Grealish. Can't remember who it was but because of an insane price, they'd have to win consecutive Balloon D'ors and a Champions League or 2 to be considered value for money

I'm glad you posted that cos I thought it on Monday, gawd forgive me.

I've deliberately logged myself out after Sundays shitshow at Brighton because I was livid and would have posted things not fit to repeat.

I'm pretty hacked off at the transfer window though, I don't think the squad is strong or deep enough and once again the injuries are building up as ever.

In 20/21 early doors we were dross, but I had a feeling in Dec 20 we would win the pl( my mate will confirm). We had the players with character then and I knew it was a blip. This time I really can't see beyond a struggle for well, even top half of table.

I don't mind a transistion season, but I see this as a struggle. The fact of not signing a right back and scoring up defence beggars belief. I hope in our decline that Chavs do the business, I really don't want Dippers actually managing to retain the PL and as for the ever so humble Arse they can just do one and remain the eternal bridesmaids.

Just been having a look at the biggest transfers in football and just a reminder that Harry Fathead Maguire is still the most expensive defender in the history of football
